How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 144

It seemed his first love was more special than anyone knew. Except now, Winifred seemed to want nothing to do with him.

Owen's lips curved into a smug grin. Oh, Yvan, Yvan. You want to win her back? I'm going to make sure that's the last thing that happens. I'm going to make your life a living hell.

Meanwhile, Yvan was in his office, staring at a document on his desk.

The company had run into a minor snag the last few days; a loan application was stuck in perpetual review.

At first, he'd thought it was just the bank being overly cautious, but Owen's appearance yesterday had put him on high alert.

He had his people look into it, and sure enough, Owen was pulling the strings.

Blocking loans was that scumbag's signature move.

Looks like going bankrupt overseas didn't teach him a lesson, Yvan thought, clenching his fist.

Just then, his phone buzzed with a series of incoming messages.

He opened them, and his expression instantly turned grim.

The messages were from an unknown number. They were photos of Owen with his arm around Winifred, holding a bouquet of roses.

There were several more pictures: Winifred holding the flowers, getting onto the back of Owen's motorcycle.

Why had she accepted another man so quickly? Did she really have no lingering feelings for him at all?

He had spent all this time pulling out every stop—being gentle, being firm, begging, pestering, pouring out his heart—and nothing had worked.

And Owen? Owen had done nothing, and she was already giving him a chance.

Yvan was so furious he hurled his phone against the floor.

At that moment, a knock came at the door. His secretary, Eileen, walked in carrying a shopping bag.

After a long search, Eileen had finally found a very similar style, but it cost over fifteen thousand dollars.

She had checked with Yvan, and only after getting his approval did she make the purchase.

Eileen was dying of curiosity. Who was this mysterious woman with the blurred-out face?

She'd heard from Fitch that Yvan had never had a serious girlfriend and kept his personal life remarkably clean.

But now…

She wouldn't dare accept the coat. Not only was it likely intended for her boss's love interest, but she couldn't possibly accept something worth fifteen thousand dollars.

Eileen took the bag, intending to return it.

But just as she reached the door, Yvan called out again. "Leave the bag."

Startled, Eileen quickly turned around, placed the bag back on his desk, and scurried out of the room.
