Yvan lit a cigarette, taking several long drags before his heart rate started to settle.
Owen must have fed her some smooth lines to trick her like that.
Owen's sudden interest in Winifred had to be aimed at him. He couldn't let that naive fool get manipulated by him.
If he just explained the history between him and Owen, she would surely see the light.
Yvan grabbed the bag and headed home.
A short while later, Simon sent him a screenshot of Owen's Facebook post. "Yvan, this Dr. Spencer isn't Winifred, is it? Owen isn't really making a move on her, is he?"
Simon's sister was married to Owen's older brother, making Simon and Owen relatives of a sort. They were friends on social media out of politeness. But since Owen was his best friend's sworn enemy, Simon tried not to get involved in their drama.
However, he'd never liked Owen's methods, so his loyalty was with Yvan.
Yvan stared at the screenshot. That bastard Owen was holding a cup of coffee, grinning like an idiot.
Then he read the caption.
"Dr. Spencer bought me coffee. A great day! (PS: It's amazing how you can just click with someone. I think we both know what 'love at first sight' feels like.)"
She bought him coffee? And that "we"... did that include Winifred? Did she feel love at first sight for Owen?
Yvan felt an invisible hand clench tightly around his heart. He was so jealous he could hardly breathe.
He scrolled down to Owen's replies to his sycophantic friends.
"Owen, new girlfriend?"
Owen replied, "Just met. We're getting to know each other."
"When are you bringing the new girl around for us to meet?"
Owen: "Soon."
"Look at you, all lovesick. You finally met the one?"
