How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 169

Inside, Fitch closed the door and immediately walked over to the person sitting on the sofa, reporting respectfully, “Mr. Brown, I’ve done as you instructed.”

“How did she react?”

Yvan looked at him and asked.

He held a cigarette, a thin wisp of smoke curling from its tip.

In just three months, he had lost a lot of weight and looked more haggard.

Fitch replied, “Ms. Spencer didn't have much of a reaction, but don't worry, Mr. Brown. I think she’s let her guard down.”

After a few seconds of silence, Yvan waved his hand. “Alright, you can go back now.”

“Yes, sir.”

Fitch said, then opened the door and left. As he stepped out, he instinctively glanced at the door opposite and couldn't help but sigh.

What a mess.

Cedar Rock Capital had been doing perfectly well in Zion. Then, two months ago, Yvan suddenly announced he was moving the company headquarters to Riverside City and changing the name to RockFred Investments.

After the move to Riverside City, two weeks ago, Mr. Brown had instructed him to rent an apartment here in his name, specifically insisting it had to be next door to Ms. Spencer's.

That was when Fitch finally understood.

Winifred had come to the office to see Mr. Brown and had even thrown a glass of water in his face. Not only was Mr. Brown not angry, but he had even chased after her.

Everyone in the company knew about that incident.

He never expected Mr. Brown to suddenly move the company to Riverside City for Ms. Spencer. He had even changed the company name.

Fitch was amazed. He truly hadn't realized Yvan was such a devoted person.

He had been with Yvan since the founding of Cedar Rock Capital, and in those five years, he had never seen a woman by Yvan’s side.

He had assumed Yvan wasn't interested in romance, but it turned out he just hadn't met the one.

And now that he had, he was stopping at nothing. He'd even moved his entire company to pursue her.

The previous residents of the apartment next door weren't tenants, and they had no intention of selling. It had taken a great deal of effort, and a significant amount of money, to persuade them to move out.

Other times, Winifred was covered in blood, crying helplessly all alone.

But most often, he dreamed of Winifred tearfully recounting her pain to him, then telling him to leave her.

When he woke up, he couldn't stop his own tears from falling.

After being discharged from the hospital, Yvan found out she had already left and given up her apartment.

He stood motionlessly downstairs from her old building for hours.

When he got back, he made a decision: he would move the company to Riverside City.

He had someone find out where she was working and where she was living.

Yvan knew he shouldn't bother her anymore. He didn't have the right to keep pestering her.

But he couldn't stop himself from wanting to be near her.

So he rented the apartment next to hers. But he didn't dare let her know, and he didn't dare let her see him.
