How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 232

"Yvan, again?" Winifred asked in alarm.

"It'll be quick, just bear with me."

With a final groan, Yvan finally quieted down.

He stroked her face tenderly, a look of complete satisfaction on his. "Winifred, I love you."

"Mm."

"Can you say you love me too?" Yvan asked, looking at her with a hint of grievance.

Winifred didn't answer. Instead, she looked at him and asked, "Yvan, did you buy Birch Hollow?"

Yvan froze for a second. "You found out?"

"I saw Fitch."

Yvan's eyes flickered. "I was planning to surprise you, but I guess you found out early."

He held Winifred, stroking her hair. "That day, I saw how reluctant you were to leave your grandmother's yard. I knew you couldn't bear to see the house torn down. So I figured out a way to buy it and develop it into a historic village, a place for you to remember her by. That way, whenever you miss your grandmother, you can always go back."

The renewal project was a major government initiative, so it took a lot of effort to convince them of the benefits of turning Birch Hollow into a heritage site. He even donated a substantial sum to Oakwood City for tourism development.

But he didn't need to tell Winifred all that.

Winifred felt a flutter in her heart, as if a string had been plucked.

"Yvan…" she said.

"Hmm?"

"Thank you."

"Don't get too happy just yet," Winifred said, giving him a look. "I'm only giving you a chance. If you mess up, I can take it back at any time."

Yvan paused, but quickly understood. He took her hand. "I'll be on my best behavior. I'll cook for you every day, and I'll do the dishes. I'll listen to you—whatever you say, goes. If there's anything you don't like, just tell me, and I'll change. If I screw up, you can hit me, punish me, whatever you want."

Winifred was touched but decided to tease him. "Alright then. In that case, you can go back to your apartment now. I'm tired and I want to sleep."

Yvan froze, then quickly held her tight. "Can't you make an exception? Let me stay here tonight?"

"Nope. You just said you'd listen to me," Winifred said with a straight face.

Yvan felt caught in a dilemma.

If he left, he'd miss holding her. If he stayed, he'd be breaking his promise immediately.

"Wini…" he pleaded pitifully. "Considering my excellent performance earlier, can't you just let me stay? Please?"
