I didn’t beat around the bush. I just said, “Four Seasons Group’s gonna expand to the Brookstone Pack soon. When we do, I hope you’ll have my back.”

Gabriel looked at me and started laughing his head off for no reason. “You little girl, you don’t hold anything back, do you?”

“Aren’t you the one who told me to ask for whatever I wanted? Or can’t you pull it off?” I shot him a look, lifting one eyebrow.

He smiled even bigger and gave me a thumbs–up. “You’re a tricky kid. This request sounds easy, but it’s really tying our Hicks family to your Four Seasons Group. Still, I gotta admire how sharp you are.”

He grabbed a folder from his bedside and handed it to me. “Here. I think this is what you’re after.”

I took it; no pleasantries needed.

After I left the Hicks family, I bought a bouquet of sunflowers and headed to Eternal Rest Cemetery alone–it’s on the edge of the Brookstone Pack.

It was real quiet there, and everything was covered in snow.

I walked forward with heavy feet, leaving footprints in the snow one after another. I hadn’t been here since my mom passed away.

I followed the path I remembered and made it to her tombstone.

No one had visited in ages, so it looked really lonely.

I stared at the woman in the photo on the tombstone. She was beautiful and graceful, with a smile that was easy to get stuck on.

I dropped to my knees, wiping the photo gently with my hand. Tears slipped down my face quietly as I brushed my fingers over her face in the picture.

“Mom, Mom, Mom… I haven’t called you that in so long. I miss you so bad.

“Mom, I’m home.

“Forgive me for taking so long to come see you.

I calmed down a little and then told her all about my life in the Hidmoon Pack.

I rambled on to her for a long time, till it got dark. Then I finally left…

I headed back to the Silverwhip Pack that same night. As soon as I got there, I told Serena to start building the Four Seasons Group office in the Brookstone Pack.

The land Gabriel gave me before I left was in a perfect spot. I was really happy with it.

Once I got everything sorted, I lay down on the balcony, eyes half–shut, enjoying the rare free time. The sun felt warm on my skin–I hadn’t felt this relaxed in forever.
