Chapter 12 Paths Converge
Lira’s POV:
Finished
First things first, I needed to find my assistant, Serena Barnes. I had to get the latest scoop on how business was going here.
I rescued Serena, a lone she–wolf, on the Hidmoon Pack border four years ago. She’d had a tough life, but she was sharp as a tack and fiercely capable.
After I saved her, she swore to stay by my side to repay the debt. All these years, she’d handled most of the Hidmoon Pack’s outside dealings. She was the person I trusted most.
She’d always been out here working for me. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time.
With that thought, I tapped into Victoria’s energy. My pace quickened as I headed for Serena’s place.
The moment I entered her neighborhood, regular werewolves passing by did a double–take. They whispered among themselves.
“She’s gorgeous!”
“So beautiful and elegant… like the Moon Goddess herself.”
A few even pulled out their phones to sneak pictures.
Serena came out to meet me, a teasing grin on her face. “Lira, you never change. Causing a stir wherever
you go.
“Once you’re officially our Alpha, every male Alpha on the continent will be lining up for a chance with you.”
I gave her a helpless smile and nudged her to hurry inside.
Kael’s POV:
I was staring at the glass vial on my desk. The one the girl had left behind. My mind kept replaying our brief meeting.
My Beta, Gary, hurried in with a report. “Your Majesty. We only found the girl’s name. She’s Lira Krom.”
He paused, his face tightening with frustration. He bowed his head. “That’s… all we have. There’s nothing else. I deployed all our resources. The data on Lira is practically non–existent.”
“Lira Krom?” I repeated. “Krom is not a common surname. And you truly found nothing at all?”
This girl was not simple. My interest in her sharpened.
Gary replied, “Your Majesty, the records are either erased or sealed. We cannot access them.
“So… shall we continue the investigation?”

I thought for a moment. “Stop tracing her movements. Focus on her connection to Elder Krom of the Hidmoon Pack.”
Her surgical skill was exceptional. It kept pointing back to that legendary, reclusive pack–and their most powerful elder.
“Yes, understood.”
Gary accepted the order and turned to leave. Then he stopped, as if remembering something. He turned back. “Your Majesty. I saw a photo on Twitter. The girl she looks like the Ms. Krom you described. See for yourself.”
He handed me his phone. I looked at the screen.
The girl in the photo wore simple black clothes. Her eyes were clear beneath the brim of her cap. It was her. It couldn’t be anyone else..
