Howl of Destiny: Alpha Lira’s Legend
Chapter 143 His Silent Goodbye
Kael’s POV:
She was curled up in bed, wrapped tight in the blanket, her hair splayed out over the covers. That pose-I could tell she felt totally unsafe. My heart twisted all over again, sharp and painful.
I reached out slowly, brushing my hand gently over her face. My chest ached so bad, and out of nowhere, I pictured her-covered in cuts and bruises, lying on the ground like she was broken. My fingers started to shake a little…
I leaned down, pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, and promised quietly, “Go on, sleep. From now on, I’ll be right there for you, always. I’ll keep you safe, no matter what.”
Lira’s POV:
The next morning, I woke up and it hit me-Kael was gone.
His scent was fading fast from the room, weaker and weaker by the second. My wolf spirit Victoria started acting up inside me, all antsy and on edge.
A weird, empty sadness settled over me-like there was a little hole in my chest, missing something.
Enid teased me, “How long have you known him, and you’re already this stuck on him? C’mon, I might get jealous here.”
I hurried over to her, shaking her arm and acting all cute. “You’re my favorite-nobody could ever take your place.” I even winked at her to sell it.
She laughed and tapped my nose lightly. “Alright, I’m just messing with you. He had some emergency come up, so he split early. Told me to tell you-he didn’t wanna wake you up while you were dead asleep”
I mumbled an “oh” and let it go.
I stuck around Hidmoon Pack a few more days. But I’d promised Reginald I’d be at Graymarch Pack on the 8th, so on the 7th, I packed up and headed back to Silverwhip Pack…
That same night, Reginald and I grabbed our guys and hit the road for Graymarch Pack.
I’d heard a little buzz about Graymarch Pack’s emerald rough stone event before. Before we left, I even had my guys look up all the details-just to be prepared.
When we rolled into Graymarch Pack, Reginald had already taken care of everything.
We crashed for the night, and first thing the next morning, our group hopped in cars and headed to the event spot.
The whole drive there, Lily was going nuts inside me-she could smell werewolves of every rank. everywhere we went.
That told me right away-this event was gonna be packed. Tons of people showed up.

Chapter 143 His Silent Goodbye
When we got to the venue, the parking lot was already jammed-cars everywhere, no spots left.
One of Reginald’s guys walked over and broke down the event rules for us, step by step.
Once I got the gist of it, I headed inside. It was a huge space, with piles and piles of all kinds of rough stones everywhere. Behind them was a trading center, all enclosed in glass.
Reginald pointed to the mountain of stones and said, “All these rough stones are up for grabs. See one you like? Write down its number, drop it in the bid box, and the bidding starts in three days.”
I glanced at the stones and said, “Got it. Go handle your stuff-I don’t need you hanging around. I’ll wander on my own.”
Reginald nodded. “Fair enough. With how good you are at picking stones, you don’t need anyone holding your hand.”
But then his face got serious, and he frowned. “But hey-be careful, okay? There are all kinds of people here. Some lone wolves might be hiding in the crowd, up to no good. If anything feels off, call me ASAP.
“Don’t sweat it.” I smiled and patted his shoulder. “I’ll be fine.”
After Reginald and his guys took off, I stood in the square. Not too many people were there yet-it was still early.
I looked around at all the rough stones stacked up everywhere. Their prices were all over the place-from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. I figured the ones out here weren’t the best quality; that’s why they were cheaper.
I wandered around and checked out most of them. Most had low-quality emeralds inside, nothing special. But I did find a few that were actually good.
One of them was a cherry pink rough stone-I fell in love with it right away. I bought it on the spot.
That color was super rare.
I waved over a worker and had them load all the stones I liked onto a cart. Then I took them to the trading hall to pay up.
Once I finished paying, I grabbed the cart and was about to head to the stone-cutting area.
“Lira!” A voice called out, and I stopped dead in my tracks.
I turned around-and there was a guy, hurrying right toward me…
