I walked down the stairs slowly and gave the stunned maids a small smile. “Something wrong?”

David Lee came in from outside. He saw the frozen maids and barked, “What are you all standing around for? Get back to work-”

He stopped mid–sentence when he saw me. His eyes went wide. “Miss… Miss Krom!”

“Long time no see, David. I’m starving.”

His eyes instantly turned red. “Of course! I’ll have the kitchen make something right away!”

He hurried off toward the kitchen.

At the same time, top–floor conference room, Empire Group

The meeting was tense. Every manager and director looked ready to snap.

Kael sat at the head of the table, legs crossed, fingers tapping the surface, his handsome face completely blank.

One of the partners was droning on about the latest proposal when a phone rang. Everyone’s face changed. Who the hell had the balls to leave their phone on?

Kael picked up his phone. The room collectively exhaled… until he actually answered it. That never happened. Kael never took calls during meetings.

Gary, standing behind him, glanced at the screen. It was David Lee. Why would the butler call now?

Because he knew the butler would never call while the Alpha King was working. Suddenly a possibility flashed through Gary’s mind–what if…

Kael listened for one second, then shot to his feet. “Say that again!”

“My King, Miss Krom is awake! She’s really awake!”

Kael didn’t even reply. Right in front of everyone he shifted into his wolf form and bolted out the a blur of black fur.

Gary kept his voice flat. “Meeting’s over. You can all go.”

He took off after Kael.

The executives just sat there, stunned. What the hell had just happened to make the Alpha King lose it like

that?

Kael let Zeus take over completely, racing toward the estate at top speed.
