Howl of Destiny: Alpha Lira’s Legend

Chapter 175 Putting Arrogance in Its Place

Lira Voss’s POV:

Finished

Before I could answer, Isla, who had just sat down in the lounge, shot me a disgusted look and said to her assistant loud enough for everyone to hear, “See? She thinks being pretty means she can do whatever she wants. Forgot she’s just a low-rank Omega. Pathetic.”

I ignored her and looked straight at the receptionist. “I told you I’m here to see Mr. Watkins. As front-desk staff, you’re supposed to pass the message along, not kick me out.

“Tell me, which company rule says a receptionist gets to make decisions for the CEO?”

A small crowd had already gathered to watch the show. The receptionist’s face turned red.

“You little- I’ve seen plenty of girls like you who think they can become stars. Mr. Watkins doesn’t have time for people like you. Leave. Now.”

I was about to reply when a sharp female voice cut in from behind me. “I’d like to see exactly who’s trying to throw her out.”

I smelled that familiar scent and smiled. I turned around just as Serena stepped out of the elevator in a sharp suit, every inch the powerful beta and my chief assistant.

The whole lobby went dead silent. Staff started murmuring, “Miss Barnes.”

“Miss Barnes.”

I grinned as she walked straight up and pulled me into a tight hug, rubbing my back over and over without saying a word.

“Serena, I’m back.” My voice cracked a little. I hadn’t expected that.

Her eyes were shiny with tears too.

Everyone around us looked shocked. The receptionist especially looked terrified.

I didn’t even glance at her.

The elevator opened again and two more familiar faces stepped out, staring at me in disbelief before breaking into huge smiles.

I let go of Serena and teased them. “What, you don’t recognize me? Mr. Bailey, Mr. Watkins.”

Travis and Rodney’s wolf ears perked up as they rushed over, voices full of relief and scolding. “You finally decided to show up? If you stayed away any longer we were about to stage a mutiny.”

“You wouldn’t dare. I trust you guys.” I smiled.

We all laughed.

Then a female voice spoke up beside us. “Excuse me. Hello, Mr. Watkins. I’m Isla Bennett

Isla had walked over with a few staff members.

Rodney frowned slightly. “Hello. Can I help you?”

Isla’s assistant puffed up. “Mr. Watkins, we’re here to discuss Isla’s role in your new drama.”

“I don’t recall her being cast in it,” Rodney said coolly.

Do Isla’s smile faltered for a second before she forced it back. “That’s why I came to talk to you. you have time now?”
