Lira’s POV:
Finished
I looked toward the scream. Christine’s eyes were blank. A fierce smile twisted her face. Like a madwoman, she shifted into her wolf form and lunged at the crowd nearby.
Her movements were fast and vicious. All trace of her noble–lady elegance was gone. She was clearly out of her mind.
The direction of her lunge was straight toward an elderly man with gray hair.
Just as she was about to crash into him, the bodyguard in black behind him reacted. He didn’t hesitate. He lifted his foot and kicked Christine hard to the ground.
A heavy thud echoed. Christine fell onto the carpet. After shifting back to human form, she seemed to feel no pain. She struggled to get up again.
But the old man was badly shaken. His face went paper–white in an instant. He clutched his chest, gasping for air. His body swayed and he collapsed backward.
The bodyguard quickly moved to catch him.
This sudden chaos caught everyone off guard. The orderly banquet hall descended into panic instantly.
Guests scrambled back to get away. The sounds of gasps, shouts, and confused talk mixed together. The scene was out of control.
Leske threw herself down beside Christine. She tried to hold her down while pleading desperately, “Christine! Stop! Get a hold of yourself!”
But Christine was beyond control. She had freakish strength. She thrashed wildly, her wolf form partially emerging. Sharp fangs flashed as she snarled.
Looking at the unconscious old man and the crazed Christine, I didn’t hesitate. I stepped forward quickly.
As Christine struggled to rise again, I sidestepped her swinging arm. In one motion, I grabbed her wrist, twisted it behind her back, and pinned her down.
With a flip of my fingers, I pulled a pre–filled syringe from my small pouch. My eyes locked onto the injection site on her upper arm. I stabbed the needle in and pushed the plunger–one swift, precise
movement.
The moment the sedative hit, Christine’s body went rigid. The drug worked fast. Within two seconds, she went limp, collapsing backward as if all her strength had drained.
Seeing this, Leslie’s face changed. She rushed at me suddenly, her wolf eyes blazing. “What did you do to her?! Why is she unconscious?!”
I ignored her. My eyes went to the dining table beside us. I grabbed the corner of the tablecloth and gave a sharp pull.

The cloth slid out perfectly. I draped it over Christine in one smooth motion.
The plates and glasses on the table didn’t even wobble. Not a single piece fell.
It was basic strength control to me. But the guests around us gasped in surprise.
Finished
They clearly didn’t expect a “regular” werewolf like me to have such precise control. Their faces were shocked.
I was about to get up and check on the old man when Leslie suddenly grabbed my arm. She held on tight, refusing to let go.
“Don’t you walk away! Explain yourself! What did you do to Christine?!”
I turned to look at her. I couldn’t help a cold smile. “You know better than anyone what’s wrong with her.”
When I got close to Christine, my powerful wolf spirit, Victoria, had caught it. A faint, strange medicinal scent clung to her.
It was a banned substance. One that could make you lose your mind. Leslie had a trace of the same scent on her, too.
It wasn’t hard to guess. She was likely behind this.
When that drug took hold, it was dangerous. Putting Christine to sleep was the only way to stop her from hurting anyone–including herself.
As soon as I spoke, Leslie’s body went stiff. Her grip on my arm loosened. Her eyes darted away, full of panic.
Seeing her guilty look, I smiled mockingly. I ignored her and turned to walk toward the old man.
But as I approached, another strong, high–ranking werewolf–a bodyguard–stepped in front of me.
He looked wary. His tone was cold. “Stay back. Don’t approach our Elder.”
My eyes narrowed slightly. “Are you sure you want to stop me? Have you thought about the consequences?
