Chapter 26 An Invitation from the Cox Family

Lira’s POV:

I looked at the man in black, frowning slightly. “Who is your boss?”

As soon as I spoke, the car door opened. A tall figure stepped out.

The man stood straight, his long fingers slowly buttoning his suit jaeket. He had handsome features, a high nose, and the sunglasses added a layer of cool dominance to his elegant face. The powerful energy around him made my wolf, Lily, stir uneasily.

He walked up to me and removed his sunglasses.

Unlike Kael’s raw dominance, this man carried an air of refined elegance. His voice was gentle. “Ms. Krom, my apologies for the abruptness. I am Reginald Cox. Elder Cox’s son.”

It clicked.

I hadn’t met many people in the Silverwhip Pack. A moment’s thought connected the dots.

Besides, his energy signature was similar to Bruce’s. Victoria’s sensitivity let me link them quickly.

“Hello, Mr. Cox,” I said calmly. “What can I do for you today?”

Reginald offered a soft smile. “I came primarily to thank you. For saving my father’s life the other day.”

I replied with a faint smile, “You’re welcome. The situation was urgent. I would have helped anyone. Elder Cox needn’t dwell on it.”

Healing was our purpose. Our duty of the Hidmoon Pack.

“Even so, it was you who acted,” Reginald said sincerely. “The Cox family does not forget a debt. Today, I’m here not only to give thanks but to extend a sincere invitation.”

His manner was firm. After a moment’s thought, I accepted. “Very well.” I also wanted to know his true

intent.

A subtle smile touched Reginald’s lips. He gestured for me to proceed.

I didn’t hesitate further and followed him into the car.

The drive was quiet. I kept Victoria’s energy carefully contained while noting our route, memorizing the

turns.

The car finally stopped before an imposing medieval–style castle. Two security guards stepped forward immediately to open the doors.

Two hundred strong, high–ranking wolf guards stood at attention by the entrance, Lily shrank back with instinctive fear.

I soothed Lily silently and followed a uniformed butler inside. We passed through several courtyards

before arriving at a room.

The interior was decorated with understated luxury. Priceless paintings and ornaments adorned the space. The soft flow of classical music made it feel like another world.

As I entered, a booming, cheerful voice greeted me. “Lira! You’re here! I was beginning to think this boy couldn’t persuade you!”

Bruce walked forward, beaming. He looked vibrant–far better than the last time I’d seen him.

I smiled slightly. “You honor me too much, Elder Cox. It was a small thing. Such fuss isn’t necessary.”

“Nonsense! It’s the least I can do!” Bruce said heartily. “You’re my lifesaver! I told Reginald if he couldn’t bring you, he shouldn’t come home. Luckily, he didn’t disappoint me.”

“You look well today. Your color is much better,” I remarked casually.

“Of course! Thanks to you!” Bruce patted his chest, looking proud. “I feel full of energy! Like I’ve shed ten years!”

His directness was almost amusing.

Reginald stepped forward to support his father, his tone fondly exasperated. “You’re still recovering. Please, sit down.” He guided Bruce to the head seat at the dining table.

Once we were all seated, servants filed in, presenting exquisite dishes. Each plate was arranged like art, with a faint, elegant steam rising.
