Lira’s POV:

Reginald raised an eyebrow slightly. He smiled and apologized. “My bad, I totally overstepped.

I understood his feelings. Meeting his hopeful gaze, I nodded solemnly. “It is.”

Reginald rubbed the rim of his coffee cup with a finger. A flash of scrutiny passed through his eyes. He got straight to the point. “What are your terms, Ms. Krom?”

I wasn’t offended. It was natural for someone in his position to be cautious. Unexplained kindness would always breed suspicion.

I curved my lips slightly and turned the question back on him. “You just said you’d pay any price. Why ask

now?”

Hearing this, Bruce let out a loud, hearty laugh. He pointed at his son, amused. “Rare! Someone actually put you on the back foot! Not an easy feat!”

Reginald gave a soft, helpless laugh and shook his head. “I was being small–minded. Please forgive me. Whatever your request, I will do my utmost to fulfill it.”

When I heard Lira’s request, I was taken aback for a second. Then I couldn’t help but laugh.

This girl was young, but her mind was deep.
