Chapter 30 The Fated Mate Revealed
Kael’s POV:
From a distance, my wolf Zeus–his energy still not fully recovered–caught her scent.
I couldn’t get enough of it. Without thinking, I teleported to her side.

As the Lycan King, I knew the rules. My future Luna should be a pure–blood high–rank. A noble from a great family.
Yet here I was, drawn to her. An ordinary, low–ranking werewolf.
This pull toward her started the day she saved me. But seeing her again… the connection was too strong to ignore anymore.
Tonight, I was supposed to be at the quarterly Alpha Council. But the second I spotted her, my focus shattered.
It was the first time since becoming Lycan King that I’d skipped a council meeting.
My beta, Gary, stared at me, stunned. I just told him to take over and left. I followed her alone.
Her head was down. A quiet loneliness hung around her. It made my chest ache. I took off my coat and draped it over her shoulders. A small warmth.
She spun around, her eyes still sharp with alertness.
Moonlight fell on her face, soft and sweet. Like an angel.
Her beautiful eyes looked a little unfocused now. She must have had a lot to drink.
“It’s the middle of the night. Why aren’t you home? What are you doing out here alone?” Worry made the words come out like a scold. “A lone Omega on the street is an easy target.”
She raised an eyebrow. Her voice was lazy, loose from the wine. “You’re out here too, aren’t you?”
I didn’t want to argue. But catching the strong scent of alcohol on her, I frowned. “You drank quite a bit.”
She blinked, her smile innocent. “Yeah. Had a good time tonight. Drank a little more.”
She was smiling, but I felt a sadness underneath.
I didn’t press. My heart ached. I reached out and took her hand.
Her fingers were cool against my warm palm.
“Come on. It’s too late. I’ll take you home.” My voice was softer now.
She hesitated for a second, but didn’t pull away. She let me lead her to the car.
My driver held the door open. I helped her in but didn’t let go of her hand.

Holding it… it felt strangely right. Solid. Like something I’d been searching for.
She gave a gentle tug. I held on a little tighter.
“Just stay still. Let me warm you up,” I said, my voice low. The tenderness in it surprised even me.
“You went out without a coat. It’s cold. A low–rank wolf’s constitution isn’t as strong. You could get sick.”
She looked up at me then, a deep look. She stopped resisting. A sly smile touched her lips. “Saving your life was worth it, I guess. First time a man’s looked after me. And such a handsome one.”
Looking at her lively, lovely face, my heart did a funny flip. I fought the urge to pull her into my arms. “Yeah,” I said, my voice rough. “Worth it. It’ll be even more worth it later.”
I meant it.
Right then, I decided. No matter the opposition, if she was willing to be with me… I had to try.
“Yeah, well, you owe me a life. So you better be nice,” she mumbled, her voice sweet and slurry. She blinked up at me, playful.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
It was hard to connect this soft, tipsy Omega with the fierce, focused healer who’d saved me in the woods.
But it didn’t matter what rank she was. She was the one I wanted to protect.
I smiled, a fond, helpless sigh. “I’ll repay you,” I promised solemnly. “For the rest of my life.”
I just hoped when she turned 18, she wouldn’t be “lucky” enough to meet her true fated mate.
If she did… I wasn’t sure she’d stay by my side.
I pulled myself together and glanced down. She’d closed her eyes, her head leaning against the window. Asleep.
Gently, I shifted her, letting her head rest on my shoulder.
Closer now, her scent filled my senses completely. But there was something else there too. Something… different.
I didn’t dwell on it. I closed my eyes, leaning against her hair.
