Chapter 31 A Whiff of Fate
Kael’s POV:
So she was my fated mate!
“You dead sure?” I pressed Zeus, urgency creeping into my tone.
Uh… Zeus trailed off, suddenly all wishy–washy.

I swear I was 100% certain a minute back. I caught a whiff of that addictive scent–the one only our fated mate has. But when I took a real good sniff again? It’s all jumbled up. Smells like a strong Omegawerewolf, not our mate at all…
Maybe it’s because she’s not all grown yet. Once she’s an adult, her scent will clear up. Then I’ll know for sure if she’s the
one.
Zeus’s words hit me like a punch–I was totally gutted.
I sighed, staring out the car window, my mind drifting for what felt like forever.
Finally, the car glided smoothly into Thunder Pack’s manor and pulled up right in front of the main house.
My butler, David Lee, bolted out, popped open my door, and tried to take Lira from me.
I shook my head. I just lifted her up gently, like she was made of glass, and stepped outta the car.
“Your Majesty, should I fix up a bedroom for this young lady?” David asked, quiet as a mouse.
“Nah.” I glanced down at the girl in my arms, a small smile tugging at my lips, then headed straight inside.
I laid her softly on my bedroom bed, bent down to slip off her shoes and socks, and pulled a thin quilt over her, tucking it in nice and neat.
I brushed the loose strands of hair off her face, staring at her peaceful sleeping grin. My chest felt light, calm–like I’d found something I didn’t even know I was missing.
She was special and important to me in some way.
Lira’s POV:
When I woke up, I was flat on a huge bed, and everything around me was totally foreign.
I sat up slowly, glancing around. A massive floor–to–ceiling window, with white curtains fluttering in the breeze like they were dancing. Every inch of the bedroom screamed luxury, like the owner had more cash than he knew what to do with.
The faint scent hanging in the room–definitely the owner’s–made my wolf spirit, Victoria, feel calm and
content.
I was wracking my brain, trying to piece together what went down before I passed out, when the door creaked open.

A guy strolled in, smooth as silk. Black sweater, casual pants–way less tough, way more handsome. His face was like it was carved by a god, and every move he made oozed high–ranked werewolf power–strong, elegant, impossible to look away from.
That scent in the room? It was his, no doubt. This was his bedroom, for sure.
Kael walked over to the bed, his fingers brushing the hair off my forehead gently, tucking it behind my ear. “You holding up okay? Anything sore?”
I shifted away, awkward as all get–out. “Why am I here?”
“You fell asleep in the car last night, so I brought you back,” Kael said, cool as a cucumber.
Then he called for a maid to bring me some clothes.
That’s when I looked down–and froze. I wasn’t wearing my clothes from yesterday. Nope, I had on a white silk nightgown.
Oh my god. Could he have changed my clothes?!
The second that thought popped into my head, my heart dropped–like I’d been hit by a truck.
Kael saw how freaked out I was. He smiled, reaching up to pinch my cheek lightly. “What are you overthinking? A maid changed you.”
When he said it was the maid, I let out a breath.
I noticed it, though–Victoria latched onto him easily. And when she did? I lost my head too, like I couldn’t help myself.
He was too charming–good–looking, but dangerous. A total trap.
No way. I couldn’t get close to him.
I came here with a ton of important stuff to get done. Once I finished, I had to hightail it back to Hidmoon Pack and do my job as Alpha. I couldn’t get wrapped up in some stupid romance…
I was still spiraling when someone knocked on the door. An Omega maid walked in with the clothes.
I grabbed the clothes and bolted for the bathroom–anything to get out of Kael’s line of sight.
I stared at myself in the mirror.
It was a light blue dress that fit me like a glove, and the material was nice too. It showed off my figure perfectly–elegant, but friendly, not too much. Exactly the vibe an Omega should have.
The maid said Kael picked it out himself earlier.
Gotta give him credit–he had solid taste.
I shook off the thought, pulled the door open, and stepped out.

Chapter 31 A Whiff of Fate
Kael’s eyes locked onto me, intense, like he couldn’t look away. After a sec, he said, “You look stunning
I almost blurted out “thanks” without thinking. But then I remembered how he was messing with my head, and I snapped out of it.
I acted cold, saying, “It’s none of your business if I look good! You could’ve sent me home last night. You’re totally up to something.”
Kael laughed, low and deep. “Ungrateful little thing. I brought you back because you were passed out. And I even let you sleep in my master bedroom.”
My cheeks went hot, fast. “Cut the crap. I don’t wanna talk to you.”
I stormed out right after, my face burning. I remembered everything from last night. And when I thought about the stuff I said? I wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
How could I be that close to him? How could I tease him like that?!
I took a deep breath, trying to get my head on straight. And right then, I made a promise to myself–I was keeping my distance from Kael.
When I got downstairs, the butler led me to the dining room.
As soon as I walked in, I saw a stylish guy stirring his coffee, all fancy–like. And I could smell it–pure- blood high–ranked werewolf, same as Kael.
When he saw me, he froze–stopped stirring, mouth hanging open, wolf eyes popping wide. “Who the hell are you? What are you doing in the King’s house?!”
