Chapter 32 King’s Crazy Offer
Lira’s POV:
“The King?” I asked, confused. “You mean Kael?”
He nodded. “Yep, that’s him.”
That’s when I realized I’d been totally out of it. Ever since I met Kael, I could never think straight or trust my own judgment.
Kael was part of the Thorne family–he had that look, and even my stuck–up wolf spirit Victoria wanted to cozy up to him. Who else could he be, if not the Lycan King?
Once it clicked, I gave him a friendly smile.
Victoria could tell–this guy was cool. Lily didn’t seem scared of him either, so that told me he was alright.
“Wait a minute!” He suddenly looked like a lightbulb went off, eyes blowing wide with shock. He shouted, “You’re an Omega–how dare you call the Lycan King by his first name?!”
He barely finished talking, and I hadn’t even gotten a word out, when a deep, smooth voice came from behind us.
“I found her on the side of the road.”
I turned around. Kael had his hands in his pockets, strolling down the stairs like it was no biggie. His perfect face looked lazy, totally relaxed.
His eyes were grinning right at me.
Leo Rucker’s POV:
I never would’ve bought the King’s crap if I hadn’t seen and heard it with my own two eyes and ears.
I almost spilled my coffee all over the table. I stared at him, jaw dropped. “No way, Your Majesty. Since when do you go around picking up strays? That’s so not you.”
And an Omega girl, at that.
Was he gonna make her a maid?
The butler and maids were treating her so nicely–she sure didn’t look like a maid!
The King walked right over and sat next to her, smiled at her first, then answered me. “Found such a fun girl. Would’ve been dumb to leave her there.”
Then he grabbed a slice of bread like it was nothing, slathered some jam on it, and carefully set it on her plate.
I was so shocked my mouth hit the floor. I wanted to shift into my wolf form and run around the manor a hundred times just to get my head straight.

Our noble, icy, super powerful Lycan King Kael–when the hell did he get this sweet and mushy?
And for an Omega girl?!
And this low–level werewolf girl? She didn’t seem scared of the King one bit. She ate the food he gave her like it was just another Tuesday.
And the King? He watched her with this satisfied, mushy smile.
I closed my eyes, took a bunch of deep breaths, and finally got a little calm.
Maybe this Omega girl really was something else?
Thinking that, I got hyped and asked her nicely, “Hey, I’m Leo Rycker–I’m the King’s Gamma, and his best buddy too. What’s your name?”
Lira’s POV:
Looking at this total dork, I couldn’t believe Kael had such a hyper friend.
I smiled and told him, “Lira Krom.”
Leo looked all curious. “So what’s up between you and the King?”
I raised an eyebrow and said, cool as a cucumber, “I saved his life.”
Leo’s eyes got as big as saucers. He jumped up, all pumped.
Then he laughed his head off. “Haha, no way! You’re messing with me, right?
“Our King needs saving by an Omega like you?”
I looked down and smiled, not even bothering to explain more.
“Ahem…” Kael cleared his throat softly, giving Leo a cold side–eye.
‘Your Majesty–you mean Lira’s not lying?” Leo finally shut up laughing, asking dead serious.
‘Nah, it’s true. So I’m gonna give myself to her, to pay her back for saving my life.” Kael said it like he was talking about the weather.
After hearing that, Leo was totally frozen.
He even popped out his wolf claws and scratched his hair, muttering like a maniac, “I must’ve heard that wrong. No–I’m definitely having a nightmare!”
Secing him like that, I smiled and rolled my eyes a little, then glared at Kael. “Quit with the stupid jokes.”
Kael didn’t say anything. He just had this weird little smile on his face. Then he nodded at Leo. “From now on, no matter which pack you’re in, if you got something you can’t fix, go find Leo.
“He looks flaky, but he’s one of my top guys–he’s good at what he does.”

Then he looked at Leo, dead serious. “You got that?”
Leo snapped back to his senses, answering respectfully, “Yes, Your Majesty.”
I looked at Leo’s deer–in–headlights face and smiled cheekily. “Okay, then I’ll be counting on you, Mr. Rucker.”
Leo looked like he’d thrown in the towel, nodding slowly….
