Chapter 46 A Busy Day and a Sudden Chase

Lira’s POV:

I was gonna call everyone back one by one later, but Bruce’s call came through right away.

“Lira, did you cure Virginia?”

“Yeah, I did.”

“No wonder Chester called me, all hyped up. He said Virginia’s better, Brenda’s getting better too, and he’s gonna throw a party for all his friends to spread the good news.”

Bruce was smiling through the phone. “And Brian stopped by my place a while back asking about your medical skills. Turns out he was just hunting for a good doctor for his daughter.”

I smiled softly. “Yeah, Mr. Wilson told me he talked to you. It didn’t really bother me, though.”

Bruce sighed. “Now that she’s cured, Chester can finally chill out. You gotta know–even though Virginia’s the only regular–level werewolf in their Gamma family, the whole crew dotes on her like she’s royalty.

“She’s been sick for over ten years. Now they don’t have to stress about it anymore.”

We just finished talking when my phone rang again-

“Lira, are you okay? I’ve been trying to reach you forever.” Serena’s anxious voice came through the phone.

“Serena, I’m fine. What’s going on? Is something urgent?” I said as I walked to the bar, grabbed a water bottle, poured a glass of water, then headed to the lounge area.

“Oh right, the real reason I called. Remember when you asked me to keep an eye out for labs? Labs are tough to find–most of them are already pretty well set up.

“But I know a research team. They used to have their own projects, but they keep getting pushed around because they don’t have a strong background.

“I was thinking–instead of partnering with a lab, why don’t we start our own?”

When I heard that, an idea clicked in my head.

Yeah, if Four Seasons Group is gonna focus on medicine long–term, we really should start our own research team. That was the smartest move for the long run.

Serena asked, “Lira, what do you think? I just figured having our own lab would be better down the line.”

I snapped out of my thoughts and said firmly, “That works. Hit them up right now, and we’ll hash out the details together later.”

Serena said, “Got it. I’ll call them right now. One more thing–about the patient I scheduled for this week. I sent his contact info to your phone. Check it whenever you get a chance.

“He’s a high–rank werewolf too. If he gives you a hard time because you’re an Omega, tell me. I’ll go handle

Her tone cracked me up. “Okay, deal.”

We wrapped up the call, and I had just hung up when Serena’s message popped in.

I glanced at the number and dialed it immediately.

A second later, a slightly old voice came from the other end. “Hello, who’s calling?”

I replied, “Hi, this is Lira Krom.”

The person on the other end paused for a beat, then said, all excited, “Hello, Ms. Krom! I’m John Kuhn. I’ve been waiting for your call!”

I said calmly, “Sorry I’m late. I’ve been swamped lately.”

“No problem at all! A great doctor like you–we’re happy to wait. When do you have time? I’ll send a car to come get you,” the man said eagerly.

I thought for a second. “I’ll send you an address in a little bit.”

“Perfect! I’ll be there bright and early tomorrow to pick you up.”

After calling back a few more people, I went into my space again and rushed to the lab to keep making medicine…

The next day, when I came out of the space, it was already past 8 in the morning. I got ready, picked up Sun, and headed out the door.

When I got to the community gate, a car was already waiting for me.

Next to the car stood a guy who looked like a butler, around 50 years old.

I took a whiff–pure–blood werewolf, and a high rank at that. Looks like the person I was gonna treat had a super high status.

“Excuse me, are you Ms. Krom?”

I nodded.

He looked surprised for a second, like he didn’t expect me to be an Omega.

But he quickly got back to being polite. He hurried over to me and said, “Hello, Ms. Krom. I’m the one who talked to you on the phone yesterday. I’m here to pick you up myself.”

I recognized his voice from the phone, so I nodded and said, “Hi. Let’s go now.”

John looked at me—just holding a little fox and carrying a small bag–and looked confused. “Ms. Krom, do you have anything else to bring? Like medical tools or medicine?”

I stayed calm and said, “No, I have everything I need.” With that, I got in the car right away.
