Chapter 53 Jealousy and Ambush

Barbara stared at the video on her phone, sniffling and saying, “I trust Michael. He’s so awesome. I get it if a few girls are after him.

“But that Lira–she’s gotta know her place. A total nobody with such a boring background? She won’t do Michael any good. Only bring him extra trouble.”

The girl next to her patted her shoulder to cheer her up. “Barbara, don’t mope. Anybody with half a brain knows who’s better between you and Lira. Besides, you and Michael grew up together–you’re both high- rank pure–blood nobles. You two fit like a glove.

“Who even is Lira, anyway? Just a lousy Omega!

“So you gotta believe in yourself.”

Right after she said that, the other girls jumped in. “Yeah! You’re the Alpha’s daughter from the Cloudburst Pack. That Omega Lira ain’t even as good as your family’s maid.”

“Remember that day you two came back to school? She probably faked that whole thing with Virginia- pretended to heal her just to get Michael’s eye. What are the chances that was an accident?”

“For sure! She did it on purpose, no doubt.”

“Too bad everyone at school’s fallen for that bitch’s act.”

Barbara listened to them. Their words made sense, but she still felt a strong twinge of danger.

Yeah, Lira was just an Omega. But she knew her way around medicine. And her looks, her body, her vibe- all of it was way too striking.

So striking she couldn’t look away. Every time she thought about Lira’s face, she wanted to shift into her wolf form right then, tear Lira apart, and make her gone for good!

Lira’s POV:

I shopped all afternoon. I bought supplies for Sun, ordered some fuzzy rugs, told the clerk my address, then left the mall. By the time I walked out, it was almost dark.

I was headed home when Sun, who was on my shoulder, whispered, “Someone’s been tailing us this whole time.”

I already knew that. Victoria was always on high alert, after all.

Lily was all set to fight too.

I stroked Sun’s fur softly. “Sun, why do we always get these annoying creeps? But they followed us this far- I should at least say hi, right?”

With that, I turned and walked into an alley.

I smelled them getting closer behind me. I smiled and raised my voice. “If you’re there, come out. Quit hiding.”

As soon as I finished talking, a few big, tough guys in black jumped out around me.

This time, even Lily could tell–they were pro killer wolves.

When they saw me, their eyes lit up for a sec, like they were shocked at how good I looked. Then they stared at me with gross eyes.

“Damn, didn’t think an Omega would be this hot. Too bad we’re in a rush. Wish I had time to hook up with you, see how you taste.”

His disgusting words and stare made me frown.

The guy next to him spoke up. “So you knew we were tailing you? Guess you’re not completely worthless.”

My wolf claws popped out of my palms. I kept a straight face and scoffed. “Thanks for the compliment. But why are you following me? I don’t think we’ve ever crossed paths.”

He still had that gross smile. “You’re right, we haven’t. We’re just doing someone a favor. So be good and cooperate.”

I scoffed. “Yeah, sure.”

I put Sun in my bag, cracked my wrists, narrowed my wolf eyes, and stared at them. “Let’s do this.”

As soon as I said that, they shifted into big, mean black wolves. They opened their jaws wide and lunged at me, ready to attack!
