Chapter 59 Underestimated Charm
Kael’s POV:
Fished
I stared at the files my Beta, Gary, had handed me, spread out on my desk. My mood got complicated and heavy
“Is this info legit?” I couldn’t help but double–check with him.
Gary nodded hard. “Totally legit. Four Seasons Group was actually started by Ms. Rrom. It’s split into a few different business parts, each run by someone different.
“Travis and Rodney–those two business whizzes–joined not too long ago too
“But that Serena sticks to Ms. Krom like glue. I looked into Serena. Over the past five years, she’s poured tons of cash into the stock market, over and over again.
“And she’s got a killer eye. Every time, she walks away with a ton of money. The cash she’s saved up these five years is crazy. She’s super mysterious too–no records anywhere. I think someone erased them.
“If Ms. Krom’s her boss, then Ms. Krom was probably calling the shots behind all her moves this whole time.
“But that’s weird. Ms. Krom’s just an Omega. Yeah, she’s a total whiz at healing, but we found zilch on her background–no fancy family or anything. So why would genius high–rank werewolves like Serena and Travis work for her?
“Now, Michael–the next head of the Brewer family–looks like he’s trying to get close to her too…”
Listening to Gary, my hands clenched up tight.
I stared at the photo of Lira getting out of Michael’s sports car. I fought hard to hold back that random anger and urge to snap.
Gary picked up on my bad mood right away. He rushed to explain, “I already sent people to check this our good and proper.
“Ms. Krom really did go heal Paul Brewer. Then the Brewer family had a huge change–they switched the heir from Rick to Michael.
“And Paul gifted 20% of the shares to Ms. Krom. I haven’t figured out why yet, though.”
“Don’t bother.” I ordered coldly, “Go see how much those old guys have talked. Hurry up–I’m done waiting. Everything here has to be finished by the end of the week!”
I was on edge, so on edge I almost dropped everything and went back to see Lira right then and there
“Yes, sir. I’ll do it right now,” Gary hurried to say. Then he left the study.
I stared at the recent photo of Lira in the files. My heart softened, out of nowhere.
I couldn’t help but smile at her in the photo, murmuring, “You little rascal. I sull underestimated how

charming you are.

“Who knew so many smart people–just like me–saw how great you are, how different you are, even under that Omega look…”
Lira’s POV:
Sunday. I showed up to the Wilson Manor for the party, right on time, like I said I would.
When I got there, the entrance was already packed with fancy cars.
I took a quick sniff and smelled tons of pure–blood high–rank werewolves.
I walked into the ballroom. It was decorated nicely–simple but classy. A huge chandelier hung down from the second floor. Long dining tables were covered with all kinds of pastries, plus drinks and booze.
Small groups of people stood around, chatting, laughing, and clinking glasses.
I’d just stepped inside when I heard an exclamation from behind me. “Whoa, Lira! You look stunning tonight!”
I knew that voice right off the bat. I turned around.
Laura and Virginia walked over, grinning.
Then they each grabbed one of my arms, hooking theirs through mine.
Virginia pouted playfully. “I thought you weren’t coming. I worried for no reason.”
I smiled. “I promised you I would. Of course I’m here.”
“C’mon. I’ll take you to meet my parents. They were just asking about you,” Virginia said, then tugged me toward the inside.
Brenda was standing with a group of rich ladies, chatting it up.
“Mrs. Wilson, where do you get your skincare done? Your skin looks flawless!” one of the ladies said.
The others nodded along. “Yeah! I wanted to ask you as soon as I got here. You look so much younger now. Got any tricks?”
Brenda smiled, looking a little bashful. She was about to answer when Virginia pulled me up to her.
When Brenda saw me, she smiled right away and turned to the other ladies. “You wanted to know why I look younger lately? Well, here’s the one who made it happen.”
“Mrs. Wilson.” I smiled and said hello.
“Ms. Krom, welcome.” She nodded back, smiling too.
Then she tapped Virginia lightly on the forehead, took my hand, and smiled. “I’ve been waiting for you. You said you’d come visit more–why haven’t you stopped by?”

I felt a little sheepish. “Sorry, I’ve been swamped lately. How’s your health?”
Brenda lit up. “Perfect! I feel so energetic now. That medicine you gave me–it’s like magic!”
