Chapter 65 Lycan King’s Dominance
Lira’s POV:
Finished
That slap had Sandra totally zonked, She stood there like an idiot, her eyes packed with fear of Kael.
James rushed to yank her aside. He bent down to apologize to Kael, his face tight. I’m so sorry. My Luna’s not in her right mind right now–she’s rambling. Don’t hold it against her.
“But hitting a woman? That’s way too far, isn’t it?”
When I heard him ask that, it clicked–nobody here had figured out Kael was the Lycan King.
If they had, James would never dare talk to him like that.
But it made sense. The Thorne family’s Lycan Kings had always been mysterious and laid–back. Besides the Alphas of the top packs in the upper circles, almost nobody got to meet them.
Kael was even harder to track down. Everyone knew his name, but it was totally normal nobody had seen his face…
I was stuck in my head when Kael’s slow, calm voice pulled me out. “I, Kael Thorne, don’t play by the ‘never hit a woman‘ rule–especially the ones who had it coming.”
James scoffed. “Kid, don’t get too big for your boots. The Price family runs the Cloudburst Pack. Don’t think we’re afraid of you.
“Push your luck, and I won’t cut you any slack–I’m the Alpha of the Cloudburst Pack!”
Kael narrowed his eyes, looking dangerous, and scoffed back. “Then I’ll be waiting for that ‘no slack.”
James narrowed his eyes, shot me a warning look, then turned back to Kael. “We’ll settle this later!”
After tossing out the threat, he grabbed Sandra and Barbara and bolted.
The whole room went dead silent out of nowhere.
Everyone stared at Kael quietly–shocked and scared all at once.
I walked over to Chester and apologized for real. “Elder Wilson, I’m so sorry I messed up the party like this.”
Chester just shook his head, smiling. “It’s fine. But you gotta watch James. He became the Alpha of the Cloudburst Pack, but he’s not bright—just mean and sneaky. So be careful around him.”
I was gonna speak up when Kael reached out, slung his arm around my shoulders, and cut me off. “Elder Wilson, no need to stress. Lira’s got me watching her back. He won’t get what he wants.”
Chester was a smart guy. Even though he didn’t guess Kael was the Lycan King, he treated him super respectfully. He smiled and said, “Alright, then I’ll stop worrying.”
I glared at Kael, shrugged off his arm, and turned to Chester. “Don’t listen to him. We’re not together. I’ll

keep what you said in mind–don’t worry.”

Then I pulled out a bottle of medicine and handed it to him. “These are health pills I made myself. It’s for you. You and Mrs. Wilson can both take it. It’s really good for you.”
Chester didn’t hesitate to take it. “I won’t be polite–thanks.”
I nodded, smiling, then said goodbye to everyone one by one…
Kael took me to his car.
I didn’t say no–I had way too many questions for him.
Once we got in, he slouched lazily in his seat. He poured himself a glass of red wine and swirled it gently. looking classy.
