Chapter 68 The Lycan King’s Grand Entrance

Everyone had gift boxes in their hands, big and small. Then a guy walked through the door.

He had on a vintage double–breasted black suit that made his tall frame look even straighter. His green cuff’s sparkled under the chandeliers–low–key but flashy. His amazing face and strong vibe shut the whole banquet hall up completely.

“Grandpa, happy birthday.” Kael walked up to Randy, took a box from Gary, and handed it to him. “I know you’re into Renaissance paintings. Hope you like this one from a master.”

Randy took the box, grinning. “You just became Lycan King not long ago. You’ve got tons to do. I’m already happy you made time to come see me.”

Sanford walked over too. “You’ve been gone all these years. Your grandpa talks about you nonstop, waiting for you to come home.”

Kael spoke in a deep voice. “I will, Uncle Sanford.”

Randy opened the box, and a master’s oil painting popped out in front of everyone.

“Whoa! That’s totally worth a ton of money!”

“You don’t just get this painting that easily.”

Randy stared at the painting, shocked. After looking at it for a minute, he patted Kael’s arm, pleased. “Kael, that’s real nice of you.”

Kael smiled softly. “As long as you like it, Grandpa.”

Then Seth walked up to him, grinning. “You really splurged. I gotta hand it to you, man.

“But you’re the most powerful Lycan King in our werewolf clan now. This stuff’s a piece of cake for you.”

Kael smiled faintly. “C’mon. Haven’t seen each other in forever–let’s grab a drink.”

Randy laughed. “Yeah, you two haven’t hung out in ages. Go on.”

Seth followed Kael to the courtyard, chatting as they went.

“Kael! There you guys are. We’ve been looking all over for you.” A sharp, confident woman’s voice suddenly popped up.

Teresa and Ruth walked over slowly.

Teresa pointed at Ruth and asked, “Kael, you remember Ruth? We used to do wolf spirit combat training together when we were kids. You loved messing with her back then.“–

Ruth’s cheeks turned pink right away. She pouted playfully. “Teresa, that was ages ago. Why do you still bring it up?!”

Kael looked at her with his deep, calm eyes, his voice cold. ‘Sorry, I don’t recall

Ruth froze, her face getting awkward. She forced a small smile. “It’s fine. It was too long ago–1 barely remember it either.”

Then she held out her hand to Kael, smiling sweetly. “Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Ruth Gritton. Don’t forget me this time, Kael.”

Kael didn’t even look at her hand. He stood up and said to the guy next to him, “C’mon. We’ve been out here too long–it’s rude for Grandpa’s birthday.”

Seth glanced at the woman with the weird look on her face, then hurried to follow Kael out.

Ruth pulled her hand back, embarrassed. Teresa patted her shoulder gently to make her feel better. “That’s just how Kael is. He’s got a really bad germ phobia–he never shakes hands with women. So don’t take it the wrong way.”

Ruth forced a smile. “It’s okay. We haven’t seen each other in so many years. We’ll hang out more later and get used to each other.”

After she said that, she stared at Kael’s leaving back, squeezed her hands tight, and whispered, “Kael, you’re gonna be mine!”
