“Come in,” I said.
He stood there, all respectful, and said, “Your Majesty, we got the lowdown on what happened–at least the basics.
“When we got there, all those bodyguards were out cold, same with Barbara. There was a camera there, but the memory card’s gone. My money’s on Ms. Krom having it. We brought everyone back–they’re locked up in the basement right now.
“What do we do with these bastards?”

As soon as we pulled in. I could tell the Golder family was stacked–they ran the Fragrance Pack, after all.
Two rows of buff high–rank wolf guards stood at the manor gate. Every spot inside the manor was grand and fancy, with expensive flowers everywhere I looked.
The car finally stopped in front of a Byzantine–style building.
Dennis hopped out and opened the door for me.
Right then, an old man walked out of the main house and came over.
His hair was gray at the sides, but he looked super sharp–gentle, but I could tell he was in charge.
Dennis immediately bowed. “Alpha.”
The old man nodded, then spoke to me, soft and kind. “Lira, you must be worn out from the trip.
My wolf spirit Victoria smelled him right off the bat–this was Edward Golder, the Alpha of the Fragrance Pack.
We’d met once a few years back at the Hidmoon Pack. Back then, he’d taught me pack management with Enid.
I felt kinda close to him.
I smiled and gave him a hug. “Mr. Golder, don’t mention it. Elder Krom asked me to say hi for her.”
“Haha, that old lady–glad she still remembers me. We haven’t seen each other in ages,” Edward laughed, then led me into the main house.
Walking into the main house, there was zero fancy stuff. All the decorations were simple and low–key.
Edward took me up the spiral staircase to his study.
One whole wall was bookshelves, packed with all kinds of books, neat as a pin. There were also photos of Edward from different times–he was a super detail–oriented guy.
On the big desk, there was just a local Fragrance Pack newspaper–no extra junk at all.
I was shocked. He was the top dog of the Fragrance Pack. Who’d have thought he lived so plainly?
Edward sat down behind the desk.
I walked over to the only sofa, sat down, and cut to the chase. “So, who’s the one you need me to heal?”
