Chapter 80 The Golder Family’s Secret
Lira’s POV:
Edward laughed and said. “You’re such a straight shooter. But since you asked, I’ll cut the crap–it’s my eldest grandson, Lance Golder.
વ
“He’s my second son’s boy, but his folks died in a war defending the pack’s border when he was little. So f raised him myself and taught him everything. But three months ago, he just passed out cold–and he hasn’t woken up since.
“I’ve hired every top medical crew out there, but none of ‘em can figure it out. They can’t find a single thing wrong with him.”
I frowned and asked, “Then what happened?”
Edward’s eyes turned sad, like he was holding back tears. “Later, I found out by accident–Lance’s coma wasn’t no accident. Someone did it on purpose. So I sent guys to look into it.
“But we still haven’t found jack yet.
“My eldest son passed out for no reason too. I’ve never done anything evil in my life. Matter of fact, as Alpha, I’ve always had the Fragrance Pack’s back and done my job right.
“But I got no clue what’s going on right now. I had no other moves, so I hit up Elder Krom and asked her to send you to treat my son and grandson.”
I looked at Edward. He looked so heartbroken, his eyes all red.
Right then, he didn’t have any of that alpha swagger. Instead, he looked way older, like he’d aged ten years in one night.
I picked up my coffee cup, took a tiny sip, and said calmly, “Mr. Golder, let’s be real–even if I wake your grandson and son up now, it won’t mean squat if we don’t find the killer. ‘Cause that person might just do it again.”
Edward pulled himself together, nodded, and said, “I know that. But I’m scared–the longer they stay out, the slimmer their chance of waking up. Especially lately, I can barely feel their wolf spirit energy anymore. That’s a really bad sign.
‘So please, wake ‘em up as soon as you can. I’ll hunt down the culprit as fast as I can too.”
I thought for a sec, then nodded. “Alright. When do we start?”
Edward glanced at the clock on the wall, patted my shoulder softly, and said, “It’s too late today. Tomorrow. You’ve been on a plane all day–you gotta be worn out.”
I nodded. “Okay, tomorrow then.”
Soon after, he had a maid take me to the guest room…
The next morning, after I washed up, a maid led me down to the dining room.

Dennis saw me and froze for a sec. I nodded to say hi, then noticed a few people sitting at the table-
They were all buff, with tight muscles. I could tell they were high–rank werewolves just by looking at them.
When those folks saw me, they froze too.
Edward, sitting at the head of the table, waved me over. “Lira, come on–breakfast’s ready.”
I smiled at the people who were still staring at me, confused, then strolled over to the seat right next to Edward and sat down.
“Edward, who’s this young lady?” the woman across the table asked, eyeing me up.
I checked her out quietly too,
She looked like she was around 30, but her scent said she was way older than that.
Clearly, she took good care of herself–time hadn’t left a single wrinkle on her face. She was pretty, wearing a tight dark red dress that showed off her perfect figure.
“Yeah, Dad. Where did you find such a pretty girl?” the guy next to her asked. His eyes were glued to me the whole time he talked.
He looked gentle, with gold–rimmed glasses–like a hot nerd.
But my sharp wolf spirit Victoria could feel the wild energy inside him. He couldn’t hide it, not from her.
A playful, sneaky look flashed in his eyes–I didn’t miss it. I tensed up, ready to defend myself if I had to.
