Howl of Destiny: Alpha Lira’s Legend
Chapter 96 The Secret Manor
Lira’s POV:
“Where are we headed?” I asked, confused, staring at him.
Kael’s deep eyes had a mischievous glint. He said, all secretive, “You’ll find out when we get there.”
That night, the car went up a winding mountain road and into an estate.
Luxury cars were parked all over the gate.

A huge Gothic building sat in the middle of the lawn, with pointy roofs and warm lights glowing through the arched windows–like we stepped into a fairy tale.
The whole estate was lit up like a Christmas tree, and the air smelled like sweet flowers.
The car pulled up slowly to the main house, and a waiter rushed over to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, my wolf spirit Lily perked up. “I smell a bunch of cool high–rank werewolves!”
Ever since Lily absorbed energy in my space a few times, she wasn’t as scared of these high–rank werewolves anymore. That made me feel good.
Victoria didn’t care one way or the other, same as always.
Kael held my hand and helped me out of the car. He pulled a velvet box from his pocket and popped it
open.
There was a white mask inside. He brushed my hair back, gently put the mask on me, then pulled me into his arms. He whispered in my ear, “You’re too pretty tonight. I don’t want anyone else looking at you.”
I frowned, annoyed and confused. “Is this a masquerade party tonight?”
I really hated parties like this because I couldn’t dance, and I didn’t want to dance.
Kael took my hand, kissed my forehead softly, and said, “It’s not a party. You’ll dig it.” Then he led me toward the main house.
When we walked into the ballroom, huge palace lights blazed. The walls were covered with fancy designs. showing that mysterious old culture.
The black marble floor had golden threads in it. Its cold shine glinted under the crystal chandeliers.
In the ballroom, people hung out in small groups, chatting, laughing, and clinking glasses.
Even though Kael and I both had masks on, his aura was probably too strong–we still got tons of looks.
The noise went dead quiet. Everyone stared at us.
Facing their weird looks, I stayed calm, linked arms with Kael, and walked right through the middle of the
room.

Suddenly, a voice broke the silence. “Kael, you finally showed up! We’ve been waiting forever.”
I looked up. A handsome guy with a tall, straight build walked over. He gave off a super strong pure–blood high–rank werewolf vibe.
Kael nodded a little and introduced him. “This is Vincent Blake.”
I smiled politely. “Mr. Blake, nice to meet you.”
Vincent Blake nodded back. When he saw me linked to Kael, his face went shocked.
After a second, he went back to being playful. He winked at Kael. “Spill the beans. Where did you pick up this little beauty?”
Then he turned to me, friendly. “Hey, beauty. How do you know Kael? You just smell like an Omega–are you hiding who you really are?”
My back went stiff. I had no idea if he actually saw through my secret, or if he was just messing around.
Luckily, Kael stepped in to help me. He said flatly, “Pay him no mind.” Then he took my hand and walked straight upstairs.
We walked up the spiral stairs to the second floor. Kael led me right into the middle private room like he knew the place well. The inside was even fancier.
As soon as I walked in, I saw a few guys sitting there.
When they saw Kael holding my hand, they all stared at me curiously. Some even whistled and smiled weirdly. “Whoa, Kael, you actually brought a date! Is this the girl Leo saw at your villa last time?”
“C’mon, Kael, give us a little info.”
Kael ignored them. He held my hand and sat down on an empty sofa.
I quietly asked Victoria to smell these guys. She said they were all pure–blood high–rank werewolves, with noble blood. Their rank and status were almost as high as Kael’s.
That’s why they were some of the only people who didn’t call him by a fancy title and weren’t scared of him.
One of the guys stared at me and joked, “Kael, you’re being way too overprotective. You won’t even let us see her face? C’mon, we’ve been your boys for years. We helped you become Lycan King!”
