Chapter 97 Jealous Rage

Daphne’s POV:

I smiled, half–teasing, but my eyes were glued to Kael.

It’d been a while since I saw him. His Lycan King vibe was getting stronger by the day, making his handsome face even hotter.

All I ever dreamed about was being his mate.

And this little Omega girl? She wasn’t even in the same league as me.

But Kael didn’t say a word. He waved a waiter over, set a glass of water in front of her, and even messed up her hair like she was his favorite.

He didn’t even look at me, but he was being all soft with a lowlife Omega!

My heart felt like it got stabbed right through. How could this be?

And the girl even rolled her eyes at him. “Quit touching my head all the time.”

I dug my nails into my palm. The pain helped me calm down a little bit.

I pulled myself together, walked over to Kael, and smiled softly. “Kael, c’mon–plain water here? You’re being way too overprotective, big bro.”

Then I turned to the girl, sizing her up. “Ain’t I right, little sister?”

I’d never admit she was Kael’s mate. Maybe Kael just felt bad for her and took her in as a little sister.

All these years, I’d waited for him to pick me as his mate. I never missed a single battlefield training. I wanted to be the top wolf warrior–a woman who could stand next to him.

I even tried my hardest to fit in their circle. Every time Kael was around, I’d beg my brother to bring me along.

Before, Kael never let any woman get close. But he’d talk to me sometimes. I always thought I was the special one to him.

I kept telling myself–if I waited, Kael would finally see how good I was and choose me as his mate.

But today? I saw him walk in here with another woman. And she was just an Omega–one who was not even half as good as me!

I’d never let her be his mate!

I was still thinking when that bitch mocked me. “Excuse me, who are you? I don’t remember my mom having another kid.”

“Oops, almost forgot to introduce myself. Hi, I’m Daphne Coley. I’m the only first–rank female Gamma warrior in the Thunder Pack–and Kael’s childhood friend.” I glanced at Kael, forced a smile, and held out my hand to her.

As soon as I finished, Kael’s cold, sharp eyes locked on me.

His icy stare made my heart skip a beat and shake.

“Childhood friend?” The girl looked like she was thinking. Then she turned to Kael. “How come you never told me you had such a pretty childhood friend?”

Then she looked at me. “Even if you’re close to Kael, can you call me Lira? I hate this sister crap–we don’t even know each other.”

I never thought this girl would be so rude–no respect at all. I held back the urge to bite her neck and forced a smile. “My bad, I didn’t think about it.”

Kael looked at her, a soft smile on his face. “Don’t worry about the mess. You didn’t eat tonight. Want me to get you some food?”

My heart hurt like hell.

Especially when he said “mess“—was I really just someone insignificant to him after all these years?
