Daphne’s POV:

As soon as Vincent asked that, everyone stared at Kael–just like me–waiting for him to answer.

Kael gave us a cold glance, then said seriously, “Yeah, Lira’s the only mate I’ll ever pick in my life.

“Anybody else got questions?”

I didn’t care what the others thought or did.

Right then, I couldn’t wrap my head around it. He actually said it–his only mate was just this Omega with a pretty face?!

He was the Lycan King. How the hell could he pick a lowlife Omega as his mate?

Was he out of his mind?

My whole body was shaking, and I couldn’t stop it.

I’d worked my ass off all these years–trained nonstop, fought like hell on the battlefield–just to be the mate who deserved him.

And he picked this Omega who was worse than me in every way.

I felt like such a fool.

I was gritting my teeth, trying to keep it together, but that bitch Lira was already flirting with Kael.

She pouted and rolled her eyes at him. “Kael, when did I say I’d be your mate?”

Kael reached over, pinched her nose lightly, and said softly, “The second you saved me. I knew right then -you’re the only one I’ll ever love.”

Watching them, I squeezed my fists so tight my knuckles went white.

No way! I’d never let this lowlife Omega steal my man!

Lira’s POV:

After shutting down that stuck–up, mean girl Daphne a few times, I got bored fast.

I was just sitting there, twiddling my thumbs, when suddenly the whole wall in front of me in the private room lit up like a screen.

I could see everything going on downstairs, crystal clear.

Looking at what was happening down there, I finally got it–Kael brought me to a stone gambling thing.

The auction started. A waiter rolled out a rough stone with a small window cut into it. A bright green emerald peeked through–from the outside, it could easily pass for imperial green glass.

As soon as the host said, “Start bidding,” the people below started fighting over it.

I looked at the rough stone on the screen. Ever since I went to my space a few times, my two wolf spirits had been way stronger than before.

Now, when I used Victoria’s wolf eyes, I even had X–ray vision–I could see straight through the rough

stone.

This stone was good, but only a quarter of it had gem stuff inside. Paying more than 100 million would be a rip–off.

In the end, a jeweler bought it for 200 million.

A few more stones were sold after that. Gotta say, these rough stones were pretty nice, but they were also crazy expensive. If you were a businessman, that’d be a bad move.

“See anything you like?” Kael suddenly leaned over and asked me.

I shook my head and smiled. “Nah. I don’t know jack about rough stones. I just go with my gut–and nothing’s felt right yet.”

I really didn’t have much pro knowledge about rough stones. I could just see through them with my X–ray vision.

Kael smiled softly. “It’s all good. Point out any you want. Even if there’s no green inside, it’s just for kicks.”

His words made the guys next to us start teasing right away. Vincent laughed and joked, “Kael, you two are so mushy.”

“Yeah, Kael. Never seen you smile this softly before.”

Kael and I just smiled and said nothing–we didn’t care about their teasing.

But Daphne, sitting right next to us, glared at me like she wanted to kill me.

Even Lily could feel her strong killing intent toward me.

But just like Victoria, I didn’t give her the time of day.

In a split second, she put on a soft smile and acted all nice. “Ms. Krom, if you don’t know how to do this, you can ask me. I’ve been to tons of these stone gambling auctions with Kael. To not lose to him, I studied a lot of this stuff on my own.

“Emerald rough stones come in yellow sand skin, white sand skin, black sand skin, and more. They all look different on the outside. You gotta check the grain size, color, cracks, and moss on the stone to tell if there’s emerald inside. Pine flowers and stripes–those are all clues to what’s inside.

“Of course, I know this complicated stuff is probably too hard for an Omega like you to learn.
