Chapter 99 The Stone That Surprised Everyone
Lira’s POV:
Finished
Gotta hand it to Daphne–she really put in the work. Her pro knowledge was spot on, and everyone around was hanging on her every word.
Daphne saw everyone giving her the thumbs up, and she got even more cocky.
She looked at me like I wasn’t even worth her time.
As she talked, she turned to the screen, pointed at the eighth rough stone, and acted like she knew everything. “Take this one, for example. No stripes, no pine flowers, not even moss. So it’s barely gonna have any green inside.”
Right away, the guys next to us started gushing over her pro talk.
“Whoa, Daphne, you’re sick! I had no idea you’re not just tough–you’re also good at stone gambling!”
“Yeah, Daphne. No wonder you’re the only first–rank female Gamma in the whole Pack Alliance. You crush everything you do!”
Daphne’s face lit up with even more pride, but she faked being modest. “C’mon, cut it out. I just go to these auctions with you guys all the time. I studied this stuff on my own so I wouldn’t get shown up.”
Watching her act all high and mighty, I smirked and said, “You really do know your stuff. But me? I just go with my eyes. If a stone looks good to me, I’ll buy it.”
Then I turned to Kael next to me. “Kael, I want this one.”
I’d admit Daphne knew her stuff–but so what? I could see straight through the stone. I didn’t need all that fancy pro knowledge to tell if it was good, just by looking at the outside.
Daphne smiled a sneaky smile and raised an eyebrow at me. “You’re pretty gutsy, Ms. Krom. But it’s cool- Kael’s got tons of money for you to blow.”
I knew exactly what she was getting at. She was positive I wouldn’t buy a single valuable stone.
I thought for a sec, then shook Kael’s arm right in front of her, acting all cuddly. “Kael, I want this one- stone number 8. Will you bid on it for me, please?”
Kael looked shocked and happy that I was being so affectionate out of the blue.
He pulled me close by the waist, brushed my nose softly, and said, all sweet, “You got it. Buy any stone you want. Just have a good time.”
Then he handed me a black card.
I looked at the card in my hand–I knew right off the bat it was unlimited.
I had plenty of my own money, but besides Enid, no one had ever given me pocket money before.

My heart felt all warm and fuzzy. I was really touched.
Finished
Seeing Daphne’s jealous, hate–filled look, I grinned mischievously. I leaned over and kissed Kael right on the cheek, right in front of her. “Kael, you’re the best to me.”
Kael froze for a second, then his eyes lit up with joy. He said softly, “I’d do anything for you, no problem.”
Everyone around us–except Daphne–started teasing again.
Daphne just glared at me, her eyes sharp with rage.
I acted like I didn’t even notice, totally blowing her off.
That stone she thought was worthless? I ended up buying it for 120 million.
A little while later, a waiter walked into the private room, looked at Kael all respectful, and asked, “Your Majesty, do you want to cut open the stone Ms. Krom bought?”
Kael looked at me, all sweet, and said, “Let’s cut it open for you. See if you like the material inside. If not, we’ll get another one.”
