I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10 Thalia Pinched Me

Miya had put Keith in the car, telling him she’d be back soon.

But when he woke up, Miya still hadn’t come, so he got out to look for her.

The bar was huge, and he couldn’t find his mom anywhere.

He pouted, about to start crying, when Thalia and Wendy suddenly appeared in front of him.

He looked up, his eyes lighting up slightly as he mumbled, “Lia.”

Wendy nudged Thalia’s arm, her voice low. “What do we do?”

Thalia narrowed her eyes, the alcohol making her dizzy and slow. She knelt down, pinching Keith’s soft cheek.” Why are you here all by yourself?”

Keith’s tears finally fell. “I… I need to find Mommy,” he whimpered.

“Leave him be,” Wendy huffed. “If anything happens to him, the Blackburn family won’t let Miya off easy. I’m dying to see how she explains this.” She tried to tug Thalia away, but Thalia stood firm.

Lights flickered across the bar, people pushing past them as they came and went.

A tiny three-year-old boy like Keith had no place here. He was as rare and out of place.

Thalia massaged her temples. “I’ll take you home first. Tell your nanny to call your mom once we get there.”

Wendy stared, confused. “Thalia, why bother? You won’t get any thanks for this.”

But Thalia shook her head. “I hate Miya, and I can’t stand Darion. But Keith’s only three. I can’t watch a little kid wander this place and get hurt.”

She took Keith’s small hand and headed straight for the exit.

“Come on, Thalia, you’re just meddling!” Wendy tried to stop her, urging. “Miya’s using this kid to win Darion over and make you feel bad. Why even bother?”

Thalia didn’t look back, stepping out into the night without hesitation.

But the alcohol had weakened her, and as she reached the entrance stairs, her legs buckled. She missed a step, stumbling and tumbling down the entire flight.

Without thinking, she wrapped Keith in her arms, shielding him from any harm.

Wendy rushed over, lifting her up by the arm. “Are you alright? Did you get hurt?”

Thalia’s elbows and knees ached, but it was nothing severe. She shook her head. “We need a driver. Neither of us can drive right now.”

Wendy gave her a helpless look. When the driver arrived, she asked, “Where are we going?”

Thalia glanced at Keith sitting beside her and said, “To Blackburn Manor.”

Wendy’s eyes lit up the second the thought hit her.

“Genius! Take the kid straight to Blackburn Manor. Miya won’t be able to weasel her way out of this.”

Thalia shot her a quick glance. “Goodnight. Text me when you’re home.”

“Got it, don’t worry,” Wendy replied.

She grinned, suddenly realizing Thalia might not be as soft-hearted and naïve as she’d thought.

In the Blackburn Manor, Thalia showed up unannounced with Keith, and everyone in the room jumped to their feet at once.

Darion’s grandmother, Sandra Blackburn, swept Keith into her arms, cooing over him tenderly. “What’s wrong, my sweet boy? Why are you crying? Did someone hurt you? Tell me, and I’ll teach them a lesson.”
