Chapter 122
Trenton and Shyla exchanged a glance, and something unreadable flickered between them.
Trenton cleared his throat. “Miya, this is nothing. You’re part of our family now, and taking care of you is what we’re supposed to do. Don’t overthink it. If you can’t run the business, I’ll hire someone to manage it. Just sign the papers”
Shyla reached over and touched her arm. “He’s right. Keith’s growing up fast, and you can’t stay by his side forever. You have your own life to live, and this could give you security.”
Miya’s eyes welled up. “Mom, Dad, you’re both so good to me.”
She wiped the corner of her eye and shook her head. “But I really don’t need it. I’m happy with what I have, and I don’t want to cause you any trouble. Please stop trying to convince me. I’m not signing.”
“Miya, you’re too thoughtful for your own good. It breaks my heart.” Shyla took her hand, her expression full of tenderness.
Trenton nodded. “I wish you were our biological daughter.”
Thalia had been watching this whole performance from the side and let out a sharp, mocking laugh.
“So fake,” she said, and then she turned around and walked out.
Trenton watched her leave and frowned. “That damn girl,” he muttered.
Shyla sighed, “Miya, your sister has been spoiled by us. If she does anything to hurt you, I’ll apologize on her behalf. Please don’t be angry with her, okay?”
Miya lowered her eyes. “I’m not angry. She’s my sister,” she said softly.
Shyla smiled with relief. “Good. You’re such a good girl,” she said.
Thalia was in a good mood.
She had gotten her shares, and Miya still hadn’t taken any money from the Coleman family. She didn’t know why Miya had urned it down, but whatever the reason, it was good news.
When she arrived at the company, she went straight into the recording studio and stayed there for most of the day, only stepping out once her energy was nearly spent.
She sat down at her desk to go over the rest of the script, and that was when Wendy called.
Wendy got straight to the point. “Thalia, your wedding ring got bought by some mystery buyer.”
Thalia hummed in acknowledgment. “How much did it go for?”
Wendy let out a baffled laugh. “A hundred and twenty million dollars. That’s actually 20 million dollars more than what that scumbag paid for it in the first place.
“What’s wrong with this person? Who drops that kinda money on a secondhand wedding ring? Are they collecting them or something? It’s not even worth that much as a collectible.”
Thalia nodded along. “Maybe they’ve just got more money than they know what to do with.”

Wendy laughed “Well, none of that matters now. You’re basically loaded overnight So what’s the plan? When’s that scumbag gonna sign the divorce papers?”
Thalia let out a sigh. “He says I lied to him, so he won’t agree to the divorce.”
Wendy’s voice shot up. “What? What happened now?”
Thalia gave her a brief account of how she had pulled Darion out of the rubble during the earthquake years ago.
