Darion set his glass down, and it made a sharp clink

Dartons eyes turned cold as he stared at Matthew. “You’re helping her, so what about me?”

Matthew seemed unfazed by his anger. “Don’t you still have Miya?”

Darion’s expression darkened. “Looks like you’ve got a death wish.”

Matthew smiled, “Darion, you’ve had it easy for too long. Thalia loves you, so you think she’ll never leave no matter what you do

“But she’s her own person with her own feelings. You know things are tense between her and Miya, but you keep ignoring how she feels and meeting up with Miya anyway. How do you think that makes her feel?”

He paused and sighed. “I know both of you, but I’ve always thought I should stand up for whoever’s getting hurt. Otherwise, everyone can walk all over her, and how sad is that?”

Darion shot back arrogantly. “She’s my wife. Who would dare mess with her? What happens between us is our business, and I don’t want anyone else getting involved. Matthew, we’ve known each other for years, so don’t make me come after you.”

Matthew’s smile faded. “What if I insist on getting involved?”

“Then go ahead and try.”

Matthew and Darion locked eyes across the room. The relaxed atmosphere vanished, and the air between them crackled with tension.

After a long silence, Matthew finally spoke. “You’re only pushing her further away by doing this.”

“That’s none of your business,” Darion said flatly.

Matthew grabbed his glass and downed it in one gulp, then stood up and walked out without another word.

Darion stayed behind and kept drinking. He drained one glass after another, and his eyes grew colder and more distant with each sip.

His phone started ringing. He pulled it out and saw it was Miya calling. He answered, “Hey, Miya.”

Miya’s voice sounded hesitant. “Darion, I need to ask you for a favor.”

“What is it?” Darion asked coldly.

Miya spoke slowly. I’ve been looking for a pair of sapphire earrings and they’re going to be at an auction in a few days Could you help me bid on them? I’ll pay you back. These earrings are really important to me. Can you help me out?”

“Sure, Darion said without any emotion.

Miya sounded relieved. “Thank you so much, Darion. I promise I’ll pay you

“If that’s all, I’m hanging up now,” Darion said.

“Okay, yeah. I won’t keep you.”

The call ended, and Darion immediately told Ryan to handle it.
