Darion’s eyes swept over her from head to toe. When he saw the healthy flush in her cheeks, some of the tension in his gaze finally eased.

They left the office building and walked across the street to the coffee shop.

Thalia sat down and gave him a cool look. “Did you need something?” she asked.

Darion’s expression was heavy. He pressed his fingers to his temples before he spoke. “Keith got lost last night,” he explained.

“He wandered into a playhouse and got stuck inside. The place was closed for repairs and it was pitch black around there. He fell asleep in there, and my security team spent hours searching before they finally found him.”

Thalia waved the server over and ordered a coffee.

Darion watched her face for any reaction, but there was nothing. He continued anyway. “Keith was terrified, so I took him back to Rosewood Manor last night.”

Her expression flickered for just a moment before she locked it down again.

She forced herself to think clearly.

‘I’m done with him, so I’m done with everything that comes with him, too. That includes our old house with all those memories. Whatever he does now isn’t my business anymore. He could bring home ten different women, and it still wouldn’t matter to me,’ she thought.

Thalia took a slow breath. The server brought her coffee, and she lifted the cup to take a sip.

Darion’s jaw tightened. “Thalia, I didn’t mean to break my word last night,” he said quietly.

She set down her cup. Her face remained perfectly calm. “Are you finished?” she asked.

Her composure rattled him more than anger would have.

He stared at her, searching for something in her expression.

Any sign that she still cared about him at all.

But there was nothing.

She finished her coffee and stood up. “If that’s everything, I need to get back to work,” she said.

Darion lowered his gaze slightly. “Thalia, I’m trying to explain this to you,” he said, his voice dropping.

“Yeah, I heard you.” Thalia replied with a small nod.

Darion looked up at her. “Don’t you have anything to say?” he asked.

Thalia thought for a moment. “Actually, I do,” she said.

Darion watched her, waiting for her response.

She smiled faintly. “You don’t need to bother telling me about these little things anymore,” she said. ‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I know or not.”

Chapter 14

She stood up and turned to leave

Darion grabbed her wrist. His grip was tight enough that she couldn’t pull away.

Thalia frowned at him. “What are you doing?” she demanded.

“You’re my wife.” Darion said, his voice low and firm. “You should know these things. I’m not going to hide them from you And you shouldn’t be this calm about it.”

“That’s simple, Thalia said, looking down at him. “I’ve told you so many times already. I don’t care about you anymore

His grip tightened even more. It felt like he might crush the bones in her wrist, but somehow she didn’t feel any pain

The veins on the back of his hand stood out sharply. The air around him turned cold. “You really don’t care anymore?” he asked.

Thalia nodded. “That’s right,” she confirmed.

“Good,” he said.
