Thalia pulled her hand back just as quickly.

Her eyes held no warmth at all. They were as cold and distant as ever.

“Why would I wait for you?” she asked.

Her words hit him like ice water. The hope that had flared up inside him died instantly.

The contrast was too much. Darion couldn’t handle it. He stepped forward and tried to take her hand.

She dodged him.

His brows furrowed. He pressed his hands against her shoulders and backed her against the wall.

Now she couldn’t escape.

He moved closer, trying to close the distance between them.

Thalia turned her face away. She made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him. “If there’s nothing else, you should go.” she said.

Darion stared at her delicate profile. “We’re married,” he said in a low voice. “We shouldn’t be living apart.”

Thalia looked down. “As far as I’m concerned, we stopped being married a long time ago,” she replied.

We’re not divorced yet,” Darion pointed out quietly. “So you can’t just pretend this doesn’t exist.”

He stepped closer and trapped her between the wall and his chest.

Thalia, open the door,” he said. “Let me in.”

His presence overwhelmed her. The cool scent of his cologne surrounded her so completely that she couldn’t escape.

Thalia pushed against his chest. “I’m not letting you in,” she snapped. “Leave!”

Darion caught her wrist instead. “Are you going to unlock it with your fingerprint, or should I just enter the passcode?” he asked.

Her eyes widened. “Are you serious right now?” she demanded. “There’s no way you know my code!”

Darion gave her a slight smile. “Thalia, we were together for eight years,” he said calmly. “I know you better than you think.”

Before she could respond, he started punching numbers into the keypad.

The lock beeped and clicked open. Thalia stood there in complete shock.

‘How does he know?’ she thought frantically.

After the last time he’d shown up with their marriage license and a locksmith, she had installed a new digital lock with a code she’d never used before.

She watched him go and made a decision. ‘Fine,” she said. “You can stay here. I’m going to hotel’

She turned to leave.

Darion’s voice drifted from behind her. “You can stay here or you can go back to Rosewood Manor, he said calmly “But you’re not getting a hotel room.”

Thalia stopped in her tracks.

He had the power to make that happen. One word from him and every hotel in the city would turn her away
