Chapter 153
Darion frowned as he studied her pale face. After a long silence, he finally spoke. “You can keep your job,” he said. “As for the rest. I’ll compensate you in other ways. I’m not taking Keith away from you.”
Miya looked up at him. “Darion, I know you’re worried about Keith,” she said softly.
“But I’m his mother. I’m even more worried about him than you are. Last night was just an accident. How could I ever abandon my own son on purpose? You’ve got this all wrong.”
Darion nodded stiffly. “I misunderstood you,” he admitted. “I’m sorry. But Miya, this can’t happen again. Keith is only three years old.”
Miya pulled Keith closer to her chest. “Don’t worry,” she promised. “I’ll take good care of him.”
She paused, then asked in a pitiful voice, “Darion, is there really no way to get those sapphire earrings back? I’d trade anything for them. I could give Thalia something else in exchange.”
Darion’s jaw tightened. “I could trade with you instead,” he offered.
Miya bit her lip and turned her face away. “I don’t want anything else,” she whispered. “Just those sapphire earrings.”
The hospital room fell into heavy silence.
Darion’s expression turned cold. The temperature around him dropped several degrees.
After they left the hospital, Helen turned to Thalia. “So did you and Darion work things out?” she asked carefully.
“No,” Thalia said, shaking her head. “We’re never getting back together.”
Helen let out a soft sigh. “You two just weren’t meant to be together,” she said.
“But Darion is incredibly stubborn. Once he makes up his mind about something, it’s nearly impossible to change it. He warned me not to get involved between you two, so my hands are tied.”
Thalia met her gaze with calm, clear eyes. “Helen, you need to figure something out,” she said firmly. “If Darion and I keep this up, we’ll both end up destroying each other.”
All she wanted was the divorce. She wanted to cut every tie with Darion and put as much distance as possible between them.
She never wanted to think about those painful memories again.
Helen studied her determined expression for a moment. “Ms. Brown is already working as Darion’s secretary now,” she said carefully. “Thalia, I do have an idea, but it’s not exactly ethical.”
Thalia didn’t hesitate. “Tell me,” she said.
Helen leaned in closer and whispered her plan.
Thalia’s gaze dropped when she heard it. Her lashes trembled.
‘Has it really come to this?’ she thought.
But she couldn’t think of any other way out.

Chapter 13
When she remembered everything Darion had put her through, she felt like she was already being merciful She was practically a samt
She took a deep breath and nodded. “Okay,” she said. ‘I’ll do it”
Helen’s expression grew complicated. “Are you absolutely sure?” she asked.
Thalia let out a bitter smile. “Yeah,” she said. “I need him to understand how serious I am about getting this divorce”
Helen didn’t say anything else. She turned, got into her car, and drove away.
Thalia didn’t linger either. She flagged down a cab and headed home.
She had barely stepped inside when the doorbell rang. She glanced back at the door, and her brows knitted together
