Chapter 167
After arranging Clinton’s work. Helen paced back and forth in the room, her face clouded with displeasure.
She hated being threatened.
She was growing increasingly disappointed in Thalia.
After weighing her options, she finally called Crystal.
“Mrs. Blackburn, Crystal answered, sounding respectful.
Helen asked gently, “Crystal, are you back working as Darion’s secretary?”
Crystal sounded really down. “Mrs. Blackburn, I was just about to tell you. Mr. Blackburn is completely ignoring me. He blocked my number, and I can’t reach him at all.”
Helen sighed. “That’s just how he is. Once he decides something, it’s almost impossible to change his mind. But don’t lose hope. There’s a party tomorrow night. Come with me.
“Darion will be there too. When you see him, just talk to him. If he knows you’re trying to help, he’ll probably let you stay.”
Crystal’s voice perked up. “Alright, I’ll do as you say.”
Helen smiled. “Are you free today? Come with me to the beauty salon.”
“Sure,” Crystal replied.
The invitation to the dinner party was delivered to Darion’s desk.
Darion didn’t even look up as he said, “You go instead.”
Ryan looked a bit troubled. “Mr. Blackburn, the Flynn family is really putting a lot of importance on this dinner. They’re trying to make a splash for their eldest son who’s been abroad and is finally coming back. If you don’t show up, it could mess up our chances for future collaboration.”
After a pause, he added, “Mrs. Blackburn also said you have to go. She and Mrs. Flynn are friends, and as the younger one, it’s only right for you to attend.”
Darion’s brow furrowed for a moment, then he said, “Fine. Guess that means you’ll be working overtime with me tonight.”
Ryan was speechless.
‘I was just relaying Mrs. Blackburn’s words. How did I end up stuck working overtime too?’
Just my luck, always the unlucky employee
Thalia got home that evening and received a call from Shyla.
Ever since the whole sapphire earrings fiasco, she hadn’t spoken to her parents. Seeing Shyla’s name pop up, she was surprised, and her irritation only deepened.

Chapter 167
What does she want this time? Thalia thought.
“Hello Thalia said, her voice flat as she picked up.
Shyla sounded as gentle as ever, like the whole sapphire earring drama had never even happened.
Thalia, the Flynn family is hosting a dinner party tomorrow night. Why don’t you come with me?” Shyla asked softly
“No, Thalia shot back without a second thought.
Thalia, are you still mad about what happened before? It’s all in the past. I’ve already moved on, so why can’t you?” Shyla complained.
Thalia replied coolly. “You called my grandma a homewrecker. I’m never getting over that.”
There was a brief silence before Shyla said, “Thalia, you don’t really know what happened with Diana. I’m not going to hold it against you, so let’s not talk about it anymore. Just come to the dinner party with me tomorrow night, okay?”
