Chapter 182
Thalia thought, How ridiculous.
The redness faded from Thalia’s clear eyes, her gaze turning mocking as she looked at Shyla. “Do you even hear yourself? Is that something a normal person would say?”
Shyla’s face darkened again. “Thalia, I’m your mother. How can you talk to me like that?”
Thalia closed her eyes, looking utterly drained. “Get Darion here. If he agrees to one thing I ask, I’ll do what you want.”
Shyla struggled to keep her anger in check, eyeing Thalia suspiciously. “Are you serious?”
“If Darion says yes to what I ask, I’ll go along with it.” Thalia said, a faint, mocking smile tugging at her lips.
Shyla cast Thalia a conflicted look, then turned and walked out of the interrogation room.
The room fell so silent, Thalia could almost hear the whisper of dust floating in the air.
Thalia’s eyes grew empty, as if someone had ripped a piece of her heart away. The ache was overwhelming.
She reached up, cupping her face in both hands, hiding her pain from the world.
She had no idea how much time had passed when she heard movement at the door again.
Thalia slowly looked up and saw Darion’s tall, lean silhouette enter the room.
The harsh overhead lights were almost blinding, highlighting his prominent brow and casting shadows beneath his eyes thanks to his thick lashes. His features were sharply handsome, but his expression remained cold and aloof.
“Darion, divorce me. If you don’t, this won’t be the last time something like this happens,” Thalia said, her tone cold as she met his gaze.
She finally understood.
Miya always used these kinds of schemes to target her.
Alright then, she’d give Miya exactly what she wanted.
Once she got out, she’d make sure to hit Miya every time she saw her.
She’d keep hitting Miya until everyone felt bad for her and finally gave in to what she wanted.
What Thalia wanted was really just that simple.
She just wanted a divorce, that’s all.
This moment felt just like when Keith took that tumble down the stairs last time.
But this time, nobody was going to stop her.
Darion Blackburn approached her, step by step, looking at her pale, haggard face. He reached out, gripping her chin and forcing her to look up at him.
He said, “Thalia, what do you think you’ll get out of this, other than hurting yourself?”

Thalia shoved his hand away, her brows furrowing with pure disgust. “As long as I can get away from you. I don’t care, even if it means going to jail”
But Darion leaned in and grabbed her by the throat. “You want a divorce that badly?”
“Yes” Thalia shot back.
Thalia’s eyes were rimmed with red, and as Darion’s grip tightened around her neck, she felt herself suffocating.
But she showed not a hint of fear. With icy clarity, she spat out each word. ‘Darion, I can’t stand the sight of your face 1 regret saving you more than anything.
What Thalia regretted most was falling for Darion back then, catching feelings for him at first sight was her biggest mistake.
After she pulled him out of the rubble during the earthquake, they started getting closer. Not long after, they both entered college, and Thalia thought, ‘Maybe I should give it a try, see if we could actually be together.
If she’d known back then that he’d end up betraying her and treating her like this, she would’ve never let herself fall for him in the first place.
“You’re wrong,” Darion said with icy disdain. The person who saved me was Miya, not you.”
Thalia’s eyes reddened even more. She gritted her teeth, her voice hoarse with pain. “Divorce!”
Seeing the light in her eyes shatter, Darion’s gaze turned even colder. “Forget it. You were the one who chased after me, remember? We swore to be together for life, not a second less. Thalia, no matter what you do, you can only ever be my wife. That’s never going to change.”
He slowly released her. “If you’re so determined, then stay here for a few days. You’ll figure it out, even if you do everything in your power, divorce is never happening.”
With that, he turned and walked out.
