“Miya Coleman is my sister-in-law. Out of respect for Emely, I’ll make sure she’s okay. But Thalia is my wife, and I won’t let anyone hurt her.” Darion said, his voice low and commanding.

His presence was intimidating, and he didn’t even bother to look at Trenton again.

Darion glanced back at Thalia, who was resting on the hospital bed. Her back wound was pretty much taken care of

They’d already disinfected and medicated it. Now she just needed an anti-inflammatory shot.

As the bed was wheeled into the room, Darion ordered his bodyguard in a low, commanding voice, “No one is allowed to enter this room except me.”

“Yes, sir, the bodyguard replied.

Trenton Coleman was left standing outside, his face dark with anger. Darion Blackburn’s attitude toward him was infuriating.

I’m his father-in-law!

How can he show me so little respect?’ he thought, feeling even more insulted.

He let out a cold snort and turned to leave.

‘Darion Blackburn actually dares to disrespect me?

“That’s absolutely impossible, he told himself, refusing to accept it.

As the night wore on, the hospital room was almost eerily quiet.

Thalia woke up from the pain in her back. The ache pulsed in waves, and she gasped, trying to steady herself.

When she opened her eyes, she realized she was lying on her side, an IV hooked up to her hand, and Darion was sitting right next to her bed.

Noticing she was awake, Darion leaned in and asked, “Do you want some water?”

Thalia’s gaze was bleak, her voice raspy as she said, “You might stop me once, but you can’t stop me every time. As long as you refuse to divorce me, I won’t let her go.”

Darion’s sharp brows furrowed. “Thalia, is it really worth hurting yourself just for Miya?”

I’m doing this for myself,” Thalia replied, her tone unusually calm.

‘If going to jail is what it takes to end things with you, I’m ready to accept that consequence, Thalia thought, her voice steady

Darion’s jaw clenched, a vein throbbing at his temple. His breathing was heavy, and the knot in his chest just wouldn’t go

away.

Thalia’s delicate brows stayed tightly knit. The pain in her back had left a hollow in her heart, a part of her that felt completely empty.

‘Maybe it’s time I got a DNA test with Trenton and Shyla, Thalia thought, a bitter realization settling in.

Chapter 198

She just couldn’t understand how they could hurt her like this, just for an adopted daughter

Unless… I’m not actually their real daughter, Thalia thought, a cold, unsettling suspicion creeping in.

She closed her eyes, biting back the pain, trying to endure it alone.

Darion remained silent, letting the quiet settle over the room once more.

Once the IV drip was done, Darion called the nurse to remove the needle from Thalia’s hand. He gently pressed her hand, his gaze lingering on her faintly pale fingertips.

After a while, Thalia struggled to sit up, her movements slow and shaky from the pain.

Darion spoke in a low, commanding tone. “You’re staying in the hospital tonight. I’ve had painkillers brought for you. Take them and get some sleep.”

But Thalia just shook her head, her tone icy. “I don’t need it.”

Darion placed a steady hand on her shoulder. “Thalia, don’t do this to yourself.”

Thalia locked eyes with him, her gaze icy. “Are we getting divorced tomorrow?”

She really was ready to kill Miya Coleman.

Everyone saw what happened.

“To save Miya Coleman, he’ll have to agree, won’t he?’ Thalia thought, her heart racing with anticipation.
