I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Darion Gets Injured

The familiar fragrance lingered close, and she immediately recognized the person next to her.

She jolted upright, switched on the light, and saw Darion lying face down on the bed, buried under the blanket. His face was an abnormal shade of red, his eyes half-closed, and he looked utterly disoriented.

“If you’re going to die, don’t do it here,” Thalia snapped coldly.

Just the sight of him enraged her. He’d lied to her again and again, and now he was here, trying to freak her

out.

But Darion didn’t respond at all, his breathing rough and heavy.

Thalia’s brows furrowed deeply. She remembered how his arm had felt against hers earlier. His temperature was anything but normal.

She pressed her lips tight, then reached out to touch his forehead, only to find that he was burning with fever.

As she leaned closer, she caught a faint metallic smell of blood.

Her frown deepened, and she ripped the blanket away in one sharp motion.

The second she saw what lay beneath, her pupils constricted in terror.

His body was wrapped in bandages, already soaked through with blood, the dark red spreading widely across his back.

Thalia’s heart seized in panic. She fumbled for her phone and dialed the family doctor.

The doctor arrived in minutes, examined Darion, cleaned and rebandaged his wounds, then hooked him up to an IV drip.

Thalia stood to one side, watching the whole process. When the doctor peeled off the bandages, she saw the crisscrossing gashes on his back. They were raw and bleeding.

For a moment, her breath caught completely in her throat.

The family doctor was drenched in sweat by the end. He handed Thalia several boxes of medicine.

“Mrs. Blackburn, give these to Mr. Blackburn once he wakes up. I’ve labeled the dosage order clearly. Please stick to it. Keep his food mild, and keep his wounds dry at all times.”

Thalia’s expression was dark and conflicted as she took the medication. Once the doctor left, she dialed

Jason.

“Thalia,” Jason picked up almost instantly.

“How did he end up injured?” Thalia asked, her voice strained.

Jason stumbled over his words, avoiding the truth. “Uh… Thalia, please. You really don’t want to know. I…”

“Come get him. Now,” Thalia said, her tone cold.

“No, wait!” Jason coughed a bit, then finally explained, “When Madam Blackburn heard Miya and Keith fell into the pool, she completely lost it. Keith’s the heir of the Blackburn family.

“She was ready to tear into you, but Darion took all the blame. That’s when she ordered the family punishment.” He paused, then said carefully, “You saw Darion’s back, right? I couldn’t even stand to look a second time. I have no idea how he endured it. It hurt just watching.”

Thalia clenched her phone, her tone dripping with mockery. “He got exactly what he deserved.”

If he’d agreed to divorce her earlier, none of this would have happened.

She’d only acted that way to push him to divorce her and to make him face his own heart.

She could see it now, clearer than ever. His heart had already strayed.

But he refused to admit it to himself.
