Chapter 24 Sell The Ring
Chapter 24 Sell The Ring
A muffled whimper escaped Thalia, taken utterly by surprise.
Darion’s weight pinned her to the bed, his feverish heat searing through her, as if it might melt her.
“What are you doing?” Thalia snapped, irritation flashing across her face as she tried to shove him off.
But he wouldn’t budge, and she couldn’t move him at all.
“Thalia,” Darion murmured, his warm breath fanning her neck.
His voice was low, rough with longing, bordering on desperate. “It hurts.”
Thalia’s breath hitched shakily.
She squeezed her eyes shut, her tone laced with bitter sarcasm. “What’s the point of this?”
Darion said nothing. He only drew her nearer, his arms wrapping tightly around her.
Before their anniversary, things between them had been gentle and warm. They’d embraced, kissed, and had
sex.
But now, only a few days had passed, and everything had changed beyond repair.
Darion felt dazed. When he pulled her into his arms again, the hollow emptiness inside him was suddenly filled.
Her scent, her touch, every inch of her was so familiar and irreplaceable. He surrendered to the feeling, unable to stop himself.
His lips pressed against her neck, leaving faint bruises on her tender skin.
Thalia stared up at the elaborate ceiling, her body shaking slightly, but her mind was unusually calm and distant.
She asked, “You’ve been to Miya’s so often. How far did things go between you two? Did you do all the things with her that you once did with me?”
Darion’s kiss faltered, then he bit down harshly on her collarbone.
The sharp pain made Thalia frown, tears pooling in her eyes.
“Thalia, do you have any heart at all?” Darion hissed, his voice raw with hurt and rage.
He clenched his jaw, his gaze burning into her. “I was only looking after Keith. I never even spared that woman a second look!”
“I don’t believe you,” Thalia shot back, no hesitation in her voice.
She gave a faint, sorrowful smile. “Darion, your heart’s already somewhere else. You just won’t admit it.”
Darion’s breathing turned ragged, anger blazing in his chest. The mocking look in her eyes made him want to lose control.
“No need to explain,” Thalia said softly, cutting him off. “I saw everything. And you agreed to go to the courthouse on Monday.” She fixed her gaze on him. “Be a real man and keep your word.”
With that, she pushed him away, adjusted his bandage silently, then quietly left the bedroom.
Before closing the door, she glanced back at the wedding photo by the bedside.
She remembered their wedding day. The banquet hall was packed, guests cheering all around. Darion had slipped the ring onto her finger, then pressed a solemn kiss to her forehead.
“Thalia, I’ll love you for the rest of my life,” he’d promised, his voice firm.
“You have to keep your word,” she’d teased, shooting Darion a playful wink.
The hall had been filled with laughter and warmth, a day she’d once thought would last forever.
It had only been four years, and now all Thalia wanted was for him to keep one promise, even if it was the
