Chapter 25 Back To Work
“I’m broke,” Thalia said flatly, twirling the large gem on her finger without a care. Its setting was crafted into layered rose petals, delicate and beautiful.
She’d been captivated by it at first glance.
Later, Darion had gotten down on one knee and proposed with this ring.
His devotion had touched her so deeply that she’d sobbed uncontrollably that day.
This ring had witnessed every tender moment of their love.
But now, that love was gone. Her marriage had crumbled, and her life was spiraling downward.
After thinking it over, Thalia knew the only way to start over was to cut all ties with the past.
So she’d made up her mind to sever everything that linked her to him, no exceptions.
Wendy fell silent, clearly fumbling for the right words.
After a long pause, she gritted her teeth and snapped, “That bastard! Is he really cutting off your money? He’s never like this!”
Thalia managed a dry, self-mocking smile. “Yeah… how did things end up like this?”
Wendy’s heart softened with sympathy. “Thalia, I’ll transfer you cash right away. I know you love that ring. Please, keep it.”
“I don’t want it,” Thalia replied, her tone airy and almost indifferent. “Anything to do with him, I don’t want it anymore.”
After a long silence, Wendy conceded reluctantly, her voice strained with hesitation. “Alright.”
Once Thalia listed the ring for sale, there were plenty of inquiries, but the ring that had been valued at 100 million four years prior couldn’t even command half that now.
Even so, Thalia wanted to get the highest price she could, which would give her a bit more leeway.
Wendy suggested, “Why not get back to work? You haven’t taken any jobs since you got married, and right now the industry is begging for talented voice pros like you.”
Thalia’s heart fluttered. She asked tentatively, “Can I really pick it up again after all these years?”
“Babe, stop second-guessing yourself. You’ve got this!” Wendy gushed, her voice lighting up with enthusiasm.” Do you not remember the records you set back then? Your radio dramas drew over a hundred million listeners, and the ads you voiced sent sales soaring.
“Your fans are starving for your return. They’ve been waiting patiently this whole time!”
Wendy spoke with palpable passion, clearly thrilled at the idea.
Thalia was a gifted voice actress, her voice capable of transforming into any persona. No role was too challenging, and no character too different for her to embody flawlessly.
When she first stepped into the industry, her fame skyrocketed, and scripts poured in faster than she could handle.
But after marrying Darion, she gave up her career as Mrs. Blackburn. The Blackburn family’s strict rules forbade wives from working outside the home, especially in a job the Blackburn family deemed flashy and shameful.
But Thalia had never wanted to make things tough for Darion, so she’d quit her job without hesitation, devoting herself entirely to being Mrs. Blackburn.
If life had stayed smooth, if their marriage hadn’t crumbled, perhaps that choice would’ve been worthwhile.
But now, with everything falling apart, she couldn’t help but think how foolish she’d been to give up her career back then.

Chapter 25 Back To Work
Thalia’s gaze grew firm, her resolve solidifying with every passing second. “Alright, I’m coming back to work.”
“Yes!” Wendy whooped. “I’ll be your agent. I’ll get you the best roles out there!”
“Sure,” Thalia replied, a small smile tugging at her lips, swept up by Wendy’s infectious excitement.
Right then, a deep, hoarse voice called out, “Thalia.”
Thalia turned around to find Darion standing in the bedroom doorway, one hand propped against the frame. His handsome face was pale, his gaze fixed on her. “Aren’t you supposed to change my dressing? My back’s killing me.”
Thalia stared at him silently for a long moment before replying flatly, “I’ll call the doctor to come check on you.”
Darion’s lips tightened, his gaze growing colder and darker as he stared at her, a flicker of hurt in his eyes.
Thalia called the doctor, but he informed her he was attending to another patient and couldn’t come immediately.
The doctor said, “Mrs. Blackburn, changing the dressing isn’t complicated. Just do it the way I demonstrated for you last time. I need to focus on my patient now, sorry, good luck.”
