Thalia’s brows knitted together. “Is he dead?”
ason gave an awkward laugh. “Thalia, come on, don’t joke about that.”

I’m not joking.” Thalia said calmly, locking eyes with him. “We were together for eight years, so I always wanted a peaceful >reakup. But now, I hate him. Honestly, I wish he’d just drop dead.”
ason was at a loss for words.
How am I supposed to respond to that?’ he thought.
Thalia turned away, her voice even colder. “Go tell him I’m not feeling well and I’m going home to rest.”
ason could only nod helplessly. “Alright.”
Thalia flagged down a cab and headed straight back to Maplewood Estate.
By the time she got home, it was already late. She took a shower, washing away all the exhaustion, and then collapsed onto her bed.
ust then, her phone buzzed.
She picked it up and saw a message from Sebastian.
Sebastian: [Back this late, huh?]
Thalia: [Yeah, Mr. Flynn. You’re still awake?]
Sebastian: [Just wrapped up a meeting. Stepped out on the balcony to clear my head and saw your place was still lit up.]
Sebastian: [If you ever run into any trouble, just let me know.]
Thalia stared at his message for a while, feeling a tug in her heart, but she resisted the urge to reply.
Nighttime made it easy to act on impulse, so she decided to sleep on it before doing anything.
But that night, she tossed and turned, plagued by nightmares. When morning came, she felt even more exhausted than she had the night before.
She stared at her haggard face in the mirror, her brows knitting together. She hated seeing herself so worn out and lifeless.
She grabbed her makeup bag and started working on her look. The makeup worked its magic, bringing some color back to her cheeks, and she finally gave herself a little, satisfied smirk.
She checked the time. It was seven in the morning.
She shot Matthew Evans a message, letting him know she’d be bringing breakfast over. He replied with a simple “OK.”
When Thalia arrived, she saw Matthew waiting eagerly by the door. As soon as he saw her, he called out, “You’re finally here! I’m starving.”
“Sorry, traffic was a nightmare.”

Since he could only have liquids or bland food right now, Matthew took a deep breath when he saw the porridge in front of
him.
‘Feels like I’m finally coming back to life,” he said.
Thalia handed him a spoon and then sat down beside him.
Matthew asked, “Did you eat yet?”
‘Yeah, I had some bread, Thalia replied with a nod.
Suddenly, Matthew remembered something and asked, “Didn’t you have a paternity test done? Did the results come out yet?”
If he hadn’t mentioned it, she would have completely forgotten.
Thalia thought for a moment. “The results should be out today, I think.”
Matthew nodded. “Let me know when you get them.”
