Chapter 241
Thalia took a deep breath and said, “I really wasn’t feeling well last night.”
“It wasn’t because you didn’t want to see me?” Darion asked, his eyes fixed on her.
Darion’s dark, narrow eyes lingered on her, his gaze unreadable.
‘Seriously? He already knows, so why even ask?’ Thalia thought.

Matthew was still weak and couldn’t handle any more drama. Thalia forced herself to stay calm and asked, “Is there anything else you need?”
“I came to check on him,” Darion replied, his tone flat.
He tilted his chin slightly, gesturing toward Matthew, who was standing protectively behind Thalia.
A flicker of sarcasm crossed Thalia’s eyes. ‘He actually came to check on Matthew? What a joke,’ she thought.
‘More like he’s here to see if Matthew’s still breathing,’ she scoffed inwardly.
Matthew had just finished his bowl of porridge and let out a contented sigh. Then he said, “If you’re here to bring up that stuff again, you might as well drop it. I’m not changing my mind.”
Darion’s eyes grew even colder. “You really aren’t afraid of dying?”
Matthew gave him a half-smile. “If you really go through with it, there’s no way you and Thalia will ever be together again.”
Who could keep a marriage going with a death between them?
Thalia would go mad if that happened.
‘Is that really what Darion wants to see?
‘Absolutely not. Matthew mused to himself.
What Darion truly wanted was for their relationship to return to the loving days they once had.
Not to let everything fall apart and head down a path of no return.
Thalia stood between the two men, feeling the icy tension in the air grow thicker by the second.
This kind of atmosphere was the last thing Matthew needed while he was trying to recover.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Darion’s arm and said, “It’s almost time for work. Let’s go together.”
Darion paused, his eyes landing on her hand.
She actually grabbed his arm of her own accord.
When was the last time she made the first move?’ he wondered.
His heart raced wildly for a moment.
He walked out of the hospital room with her, completely forgetting what he’d meant to say to Matthew.

Once they were in the car, Darion stared at her cool, delicate face. He suddenly grabbed her chin, forcing her to turn and look at him.
Thalia irritably slapped his hand away. “What are you doing?”
Danon said. “Did you really put on makeup just for him?”
Thalia thought, ‘Is he nuts?
What does it matter to anyone if I wear makeup?’
Thalia was so angry she almost burst out laughing. She was itching to argue with him, but after witnessing what he did last night, a deep sense of fear settled inside her.
They’d been together for eight years, and he’d always been gentle with her.
But last night, she’d seen a brutal side of him for the first time.
Thalia forced herself to stay calm and said, “I didn’t get enough sleep, and I looked tired, so I put on some makeup.”
“Did I scare you?” Darion asked, his tone gentler now.
Thalia, sounding tired, said, “Let me rest for a while.”
“Okay,” Darion agreed.
This time, he left her alone.
Thalia leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes, but her whole body stayed tense.
She was only acting submissive, just to avoid another confrontation with him.
All she could think about was getting a divorce and getting as far away from him as possible.
The car soon pulled up outside the Blackburn Group building. Thalia opened her eyes, stepped out without sparing Darion a single glance, not even bothering to look at him.
Darion watched her back as she walked away, his eyes dark and brooding, his expression clouded with gloom.
Thalia arrived at her desk, took out her phone, and called the testing center to ask about the status of her results.
The person checked something on their end, then said, “Sorry, ma’am. We messed up and lost the data. But your samples
are still here, so we’ll redo the tests. Please bear with us and give us three more business days.”
‘Data’s lost? Seriously, how does that even happen?’ Thalia thought, stunned.
“You guys didn’t back it up?” Thalia asked, sounding anxious.
“No, we didn’t,” the person replied.
