Chapter 280
Clinton felt his body start to heat up, and he frowned. He hadn’t put any drugs in his own drink.
But he only hesitated for a second before shrugging it off.
If there’s something in it, so what? It’ll just make things more interesting, Clinton thought to himself.
He muttered that, finished undressing himself, and leaned in to start taking off Thalia’s clothes.
But the next second, Thalia’s eyes snapped open.
“So you wanted revenge on me,” Thalia said.
Her voice was steady, her gaze sharp and clear. There wasn’t the slightest sign she’d been drugged.

Clinton froze, eyes wide in disbelief. ‘How is this possible?’ he thought, stammering, “You… How come you’re totally fine?”
Thalia sat up, her gaze icy as she stared at him. “I’m not the one who caused your misery, but you’re making me pay for it. You’ve really let me down.”
“Of course it is!” Clinton suddenly lost control. “If I hadn’t met you, none of this would’ve happened. My life was perfect before you came along!”
But Thalia replied, “Have you ever wondered why you keep getting targeted? You’ve moved through several companies, and it keeps happening. Did it ever cross your mind that someone might be setting you up?”
As soon as she finished speaking, the door to the lounge was suddenly kicked open.
Someone was thrown inside, and then a big, burly man with a rough, intimidating look walked in.
He glanced around the room, spotted Thalia, and grinned. “You must be Ms. Coleman, right?”
Thalia nodded. “That’s me. And you are?”
“I’m Dax!” the man said, thumping his chest. “Mr. Zane Anderson told me I’m your bodyguard from now on. Don’t worry, as long as I’m alive, no one’s gonna mess with you!”
A smile slowly spread across Thalia’s face as she nodded. “Dax, got it. I’ll remember you.”
Then her gaze landed on the person who’d been thrown onto the floor.
It turned out to be Elaine, the housekeeper who looked after Sandra Blackburn.
“What’s going on with her?” Thalia asked.
Dax scratched his head and said, “Mr. Zane Anderson told me this woman was the one who reached out to him, so he wanted her brought in. I just followed orders.”
He marched over and gave Elaine a rough kick, barking, “Talk! What did you do?”
Elaine kept shaking her head, her face twisted in terror. “I… I have no idea what you’re talking about! Mrs. Thalia Blackburn, please help me! I don’t even know this man. He just grabbed me out of nowhere! Please, Mrs. Thalia Blackburn, save me!”
Thalia narrowed her eyes, and just then, her phone rang. She answered, and Zane’s voice came through.

“Ms. Coleman, I had my people run a quick background check on Clinton. Turns out Elame Ford transferred one million dollars to Clinton’s account using her nephew’s account, and they’ve met up several times. I suspect they’re behind the drugging tonight
“Alright, I got it,” Thalia said.
With that, Thalia ended the call.
She shot Elame a cold look. “Did Sandra Blackburn send you? Is she trying to ruin me?”
Elaine kept shaking her head. “No… I don’t know…”
Thalia let out a cold laugh. “Doesn’t matter if you know or not. I’ve already figured it out.”
Then she turned to Dax and said, “Untie the ropes on her legs.”
