Chapter 31 Isn’t It Offending?
‘Divorce… Divorce!’ Darion couldn’t believe it.
Darion’s hand suddenly tightened around the ice, holding it until it melted entirely, water seeping through his fingers and pooling in his palm.
His dark, intense gaze fixed on her. “Weren’t we fine before? This kind of thing has happened before. We always fixed it.”
“Because I’m done putting up with it,” Thalia stared him straight in the eye, her voice cold and unwavering.” Wasn’t I clear? I don’t want you anymore.”
Darion’s eyes reddened at the corners, his breathing growing ragged and quick. “Eight years. Eight years together, and now, you’re saying you don’t want me anymore?”
Thalia let out a short, bitter laugh, “To me, these eight years were nothing but a joke.”
She leaned in, her face inches from his. “Do you know why?”
Darion felt a dull ache gnawing at his chest, his brows knitted in anguish. The expression on her face was completely foreign to him.
“Because eight years together meant less than one little cry from Keith, or a single worried call from Miya,” Thalia said.
She stepped back slowly, her movements deliberate, as if she was leaving his world forever. “Darion, you know how I am. I can’t let even the smallest hurt slide. And you’ve hurt me too many times.”
The ice in Darion’s palm shattered into tiny pieces.
He stood up, his figure towering over her. “You’re just imagining things. I’ve never cared about anyone more than you.”
He turned and walked straight out of the old storage, still refusing to divorce.
Thalia angrily tugged at her hair, completely fed up.
‘Seriously, what will it take for him to agree? Staying together like this is only torture for both of us; she thought.

Night fell gradually. Thalia gazed blankly at the patch of sky framed by the window, her stomach growling insistently.
The door opened again, and Shyla walked in, her eyes red and puffy as she looked at Thalia. “Thalia, are you hungry?”
Thalia’s gaze shifted to her. “I have to confess I was wrong first before I get to eat, right?”
Shyla lightly slapped her arm, her voice filled with disappointment. “Why are you so stubborn? Why did you hit your sister? She never offended you.”
Thalia shot her a mocking look. “She stole my husband. Isn’t it offense?”
“You’re overthinking it!” Shyla exclaimed, her voice rising. “Darion is just helping look after Keith, that’s all.”
“I’m not okay with that. So I’m divorcing him. No matter what you say,” Thalia said firmly.
“Why do you have to be so unreasonable?” Shyla stared at her, eyes wide. “Since childhood, Miya always let you have whatever you wanted. Now Darion is just looking after Keith for a little while. Can’t you even stand it?”
“Stand it?” Thalia laughed as if she’d just heard a joke. “I’m your daughter. Whatever I want, it’s only right that I get it. Why should I let my husband look after her and her son? Who does she even think she is?”
Thalia shot her a piercing look, and Shyla’s expression soured even more. “If you won’t apologize and admit your mistake, then you’ll stay locked up here.”
After saying that, Shyla stomped out angrily.

Thalia let out a soft, sardonic sneer under her breath. ‘Why should I admit to something I didn’t do? I never did anything wrong!
After the sneer faded, she curled up tightly, hugging her knees to her chest, clinging to the tiny bit of warmth she could draw from her own embrace.
