“Not bad,” Matthew Evans said sincerely. “You don’t need to worry about Miya Coleman anymore. So, all that’s left is the divorce, right?”
“Yeah,” Thalia nodded. “Once this is settled, I’ll finally be free.”
Matthew’s eyes grew darker, the curve of his lips widening as he promised, “I’ll help you get your freedom.”
Thalia smiled softly, a faint glimmer of hope in her eyes.
Just then, her phone buzzed. She checked the screen and saw a message from Dax.
Meanwhile, another text came in from an unknown number.
Dax: [Ms. Coleman, I’ve found some clues about Miya Coleman’s parents. Want to discuss in person?]
Unknown Number: [Watch out for Matthew Evans. He’s not as straightforward as he looks.]
Thalia deleted the second message without hesitation and sent Dax a quick “Okay.”
Then she turned to Matthew and said, “I’ve got something urgent to take care of. I need to go.”
“Alright, I’ll head out too,” Matthew replied with a nod.
He gave her a faint nod.
They left the hospital’s backyard. Matthew drove off, while Thalia called Dax.
Dax was already waiting in the car. Thalia walked over, opened the passenger door, and slid into the seat beside him.
Dax handed her a folder. “Ms. Coleman, take a look at this.”
After that, he stepped out to smoke, all the while keeping watch for anyone nearby.
Thalia opened the folder and quickly skimmed through the documents.
Miya Coleman’s mother was Isabella Smith, and her father was Lucas Smith.
There was also a photo of Isabella Smith and Shyla Mcgee, two young women grinning at the camera, looking like they were really close friends.
Isabella Smith grew up in Lanco City and was childhood friends with Lucas Smith. The two of them went to school together all the way from kids to adults.
They officially became a couple in college, and later went abroad together.
The file was barebones. Aside from a single photo proving Isabella Smith and Shyla Mcgee actually knew each other, there was nothing else.
Thalia kept going over the sparse file, her brows furrowing in confusion.
Were they really just friends?’ Thalia thought to herself.
‘Isabella… Thalia wondered silently.

Chapter 319
Isabella Smith… Thalia thought, the name echoing in her mind.
Why does Miya Coleman’s mother have the same last name as my grandma?’ Thalia wondered.
Thalia’s eyes widened in shock as a wild idea suddenly popped into her mind.
Could Isabella Smith actually be Mason Mcgee’s daughter?’ Thalia thought, her heart pounding.
Did Mason Mcgee have an affair during his marriage?’ Thalia’s mind spun.
That would explain why Shyla Mcgee knew Isabella Smith since they were kids and why they were so close.
This was a deliberate move, Thalia thought, a chill creeping down her spine.

I have no idea what kind of spell Isabella Smith cast on Shyla Mcgee to make her utterly devoted and reliant, Thalia mused.
But none of that mattered right now.
What really mattered was why there was no trace of Isabella Smith and her husband after they went abroad.
