The living room was quiet and somber. The servants moved with care, and Helen, holding a photo album, had sadness written all over her face.
Miya and Keith weren’t in the living room, and when Thalia walked in, her expression softened a bit.
Helen looked up at her and asked, “Did you talk to Darion?”
“Yeah,” Thalia replied softly, walking over to sit on the armchair.
But then Helen patted the spot next to her and said, “Come here, sit with me.”
Thalia didn’t really get it, but she still went over and sat down.
“Look, this is Emely when he was younger,” Helen said, pointing to a photo. “He was only a year older than Darion. Don’t they look a lot alike?”
In the photo, the two brothers looked young and full of that teenage energy.
One had a gentle smile on his lips and warm, bright eyes looking at the camera. That was Emely. The other was brushing his bangs aside, flashing a bold, carefree grin at the camera, with his hand resting on Emely’s shoulder. That was Darion.
Their features were really alike. Even their height was almost the same.
“Emely had a gentle personality and a real talent for seeing the bigger picture. That’s why we raised him to run the Blackburn Group, and he truly did an excellent job…” Helen said softly.
Thalia stared at the photo, and a strange feeling flickered through her heart.
It came out of nowhere, leaving her confused and unsettled.
Helen let out a sigh. “When it came to marriage, he picked a daughter-in-law I never really approved of. If Miya hadn’t gotten pregnant, I wouldn’t have agreed to their wedding at all. But in the end, the baby didn’t
survive.”

Thalia honestly had no clue about any of this.
Helen continued, “Still, after they got married, he stayed responsible, and Miya kept to herself. Who could’ve imagined things would turn out like this…”
Thalia looked away and said softly, “Mrs. Blackburn, all that’s behind us now. Try not to dwell on it. It’s not good for you.”
Helen closed the photo album and nodded. “You’re right. We should all look ahead.”
Helen gave Thalia a complicated look and said quietly, “Just try not to fight with Darion today. Let’s at least get through this day in peace.”

Chapter 323
“Yeah,” Thalia answered quietly.
Just then, Darion walked in.
Helen greeted him with a smile and struck up a conversation.
Thalia pulled out her phone and started playing a game, settling quietly in her seat.
Darion’s gaze lingered on her face a few times, but he kept quiet.
Just then, Darion’s phone rang. It was Sandra Blackburn calling.
He picked up, and Sandra Blackburn’s aged voice came through. “Did you go to the graveyard?”
“Yes, Grandma,” Darion replied.

“Don’t call me Grandma. I don’t have a grandson as ungrateful as you,” Sandra Blackburn snapped, her voice full of resentment.
“Today is Emely’s death anniversary, and I can’t even go back to pay my respects. It feels like needles are stabbing my heart. Emely was the most filial one.”
Darion kept his expression calm. “Grandma, you can still pay your respects from where you are.”
“You brat!” Sandra Blackburn snapped.
Before they could say much more, Sandra Blackburn got angry again and started scolding Darion.
Helen took the phone from Darion, standing up as she said, “Mom, that’s enough. You know today is Emely’s death anniversary, and he loved Darion dearly. He wouldn’t want to hear you yelling at him.”
But Sandra Blackburn broke down in tears. “If Emely were still here, he would never have sent me abroad. I feel so lost here, all alone in this huge estate. I miss my home so much.”
