“No way!” Mrs. Flynn shook her head right away. “You finally came back, you can’t just leave again. I can’t handle the company on my own. Sebastian, don’t act on impulse.”
Sebastian said, “Just stay out of my affairs from now on.”
Mrs. Flynn’s expression soured, but she nodded anyway. “Alright, I get it.”
Verena ran back to her room in tears, tearing through her belongings and smashing everything she could get her hands on. Only then did the rage and resentment in her chest ease up a little.
She glared straight ahead, her gaze full of venom. “Thalia, you bitch! You seduced Darion and bewitched Sebastian. I’ll never let you off!”

The next day, Dax messaged Thalia, letting her know that someone had messed with her car’s brakes.
The brakes had already failed.
If she’d taken the car out, the speed would’ve just kept climbing, and with no brakes, a crash was inevitable.
When Thalia heard this, her palms broke out in a cold sweat.
She gripped her phone tightly and called Dax. “Can you figure out who did this?”
Dax replied, “I’m working on it, Ms. Coleman, but just so you know, it’s pretty likely we won’t find anything.”
Thalia closed her eyes. ‘Who the hell is targeting me? Is someone really out to kill me?’ Thalia thought.
Dax was just as puzzled, his tone serious. “Ms. Coleman, from now on, I’ll stick close to you. I’ll have the others keep watch from the shadows.”
Thalia sat on the couch, covering her forehead with her hand. “Yeah, that’s fine.”
Right now, staying alive was the only thing that mattered.
At the airport, the plane touched down.
A tall, striking man walked out confidently, sunglasses on and a Bluetooth earpiece clipped to his ear.
His secretary back home was giving him a rundown on the company.
Ryan walked over, his face grim. “Mr. Blackburn, Mrs. Blackburn almost got into a serious accident yesterday.”
Darion’s expression darkened instantly. “What happened?”

Ryan filled him in on what they’d found.
Darion’s gaze turned sharp, and he asked, “Did the paternity test results come in yet?”
Ryan said, “Let me make a call and find out.”
Once they were in the car, Ryan said, “It’s done. I’ve just sent the results to your inbox.”
Darion opened his inbox and scanned through the paternity test results.
Not related by blood.
Those words flashed before his eyes, and he narrowed his gaze, just as he’d suspected.
‘So her background really is a mess, Darion thought to himself.

Darion said, “Find out where Thalia was born, and get a list of the mothers who gave birth at the same time.”
Ryan replied, “Yes, sir.”
The car fell silent.
The car rolled along quietly for about five minutes before Darion suddenly asked, “What’s she been doing lately?”
Ryan’s mouth twitched at that.
‘Weren’t you the one who said you didn’t want to hear about her anymore?’ Ryan thought.
‘So why are you asking now?
‘Isn’t this a total slap in the face?’
“Whatever,” Darion said.
Before Ryan could even respond, Darion interrupted, “Never mind, I don’t care anymore.”
