“Take him away first. I need to go home for a bit,” Thalia said, her voice shaky.
Her mind was foggy, and the overwhelming feeling in her body was intensifying.
She steadied herself against the wall as she tried to walk out. Just then, the waitress returned and noticed Thalia’s pale face. She rushed over, worried. “Miss, are you okay? Please don’t scare me!”
Thalia grabbed her arm. “Take me to a hotel.”
She couldn’t go home.
If she went home, Diana would see her and worry.
The waitress was flustered. “Miss, what’s going on? Maybe I should take you to the hospital instead.”
Thalia shook her head. “No, just take me to a hotel close by.”
“Okay, okay…” the waitress stammered.
The waitress helped her out, with Dax dragging the guy behind them.
Once they got to the hotel and checked in, Thalia immediately turned on the cold water and let it pour over her.
The icy water helped dull the effects of the drug in her system, and her mind started to clear up a little.
Outside the door, the waitress called out, still worried. “Miss, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Thalia replied.
The waitress let out a sigh of relief. “You really scared me just now. And… that guy outside keeps hauling some man around. Who are they? They’re kind of intimidating.”
Thalia stayed quiet, waiting until the lingering effects finally faded. Only then did she dry off and step out.
Her face was numb and pale from the cold. The waitress handed her the fresh clothes she’d bought, and after Thalia slipped them on, she said, “Thanks, you can head back now.”
The waitress asked carefully, “Miss, are you sure you don’t want to see a doctor?”
Thalia shook her head. “No, you’ve already made it up to me by getting clothes and burn cream. I won’t make a fuss.”
The waitress gave her a grateful look. “Miss, you’re really kind. I’ll get going then.”
“Yeah,” Thalia replied.
Thalia applied some ointment, then had Dax bring the man inside.
“Who sent you?” Thalia asked, her voice icy.

She sat on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, her gaze icy and distant. She was still shivering from the cold shower she’d just taken.
The man glanced fearfully at Dax, then stammered, “It… it was Sebastian Flynn.”
“What?!” Thalia blurted out, her shock obvious.
Her brows furrowed. “Which Mr. Flynn? What’s his full name?”
The man stammered, “Sebastian Flynn. He paid me to get you drugged, take you away, and then…”
Thalia’s mind spun. ‘With that knockout drug, God knows what they would’ve done to me after dragging
me away.
Her expression turned icy. She shot Dax a look. “He’s not telling the truth.”
Dax didn’t hesitate. He slammed his fist into the guy.
“Ah! Stop! I’m telling the truth!” the man cried out in agony, blood spilling from his mouth. “You can check. Sebastian Flynn sent me money just a few days ago. I’m not lying…”
He was nearly dead, but still insisted on his story. Thalia couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Is he really telling the truth?
‘Sebastian Flynn actually sent someone to kidnap me?
‘And he even drugged me with that disgusting stuff?’ she thought, anger and shock mixing inside her.
Thalia felt even colder inside. She just couldn’t figure out why he would do this to her.
They’d always gotten along, and he’d never shown any hint of malice.
And if he really wanted to hurt her, he could’ve done it so many times before.
Thalia was completely baffled.
It was just like all those assassination attempts, or people trying to block her divorce.
It just made no sense at all.
