Chapter 392
Just then, her phone rang. She snapped back to reality, picked it up, and saw Sebastian Flynn’s name flashing on the screen.
Her fingers tightened around the phone. After hesitating for a long moment, she finally answered. “Sebastian.”
“Thalia, my meeting’s over. Where are you? I’ll come pick you up,” Sebastian Flynn’s gentle voice came through.
Thalia said, “Something came up last minute, so I can’t make it. Sebastian, you should focus on your work.”
Sebastian Flynn picked up on the change in her tone and asked, “Did something happen? Is there anything I can do to help?”
Thalia replied, “No.”
Her voice dropped even lower, and she hung up right away.
She just couldn’t believe that someone who seemed so gentle could do such things in secret, but the evidence was right there in front of her.
She got up and left the hotel.
Dax dropped the guy off at the police station, then went with her back to the hospital.
When she opened the hospital room door, she saw Jason Campbell and Ryan Johnson inside.
Jason Campbell grinned and greeted her, “Look who’s here, Thalia!”
“Yeah,” Thalia replied, then sat down on the couch.
Darion Blackburn’s dark, sharp eyes fixed on her for a moment before he turned to Ryan Johnson and said, “Just do as I told you.”
Ryan nodded. “Understood.”
Without another word, he turned and walked out.
Darion turned to Jason and asked, “Any news from your sister?”
Jason shook his head. “No.”
“Go back and remind her,” Darion said.
Jason looked stunned. “Darion, I can’t even reach her. How am I supposed to remind her?”
“That’s your problem,” Darion replied, his face growing even colder as his sharp eyes fixed on Jason.
Jason was totally dumbfounded for a moment, but then it hit him. He shot a look at Thalia on the couch, gave his thigh a slap, and said, “Yeah, you’re right! I’ll go remind her. I’m on it!”

He dashed out of the room in a flash, pulling the door shut behind him.
Only then did Darion turn to her and ask, “What happened?”
Thalia shot him a surprised look. “How did you know?”

“You look pretty out of it, and you seem really distracted,” Darion said, glancing at his phone. “You were only out for less than two hours. Did something else happen?”
Thalia pursed her lips, trying to hide her unease.
Darion arched a brow. “Guess I hit the mark, huh?”
Thalia glanced away. “You’re reading too much into it.”
The tension in the room thickened. Darion, noticing she was obviously hiding something, let his voice turn icy. “You’re keeping secrets from me? Why? Is the person who hurt you someone I know?”
Thalia’s fingers tightened a bit, then she said, “It’s in the past. I’ll make sure to watch out for myself.”
But Darion only got more curious. “The less you tell me, the more curious I get about what really happened.”
“You seem to be recovering well, so I guess you don’t need me to look after you anymore. I’m leaving,” Thalia said, her face icy as she stood up abruptly.
