Chapter 412
Thalia checked the time and asked, “What are you up to at seven tonight?”
Ryan said, “I’m hanging out with my girlfriend.”
Thalia fell silent.
‘Fine,’ she thought.
She had no reason to ask him to stay.
Being an assistant is tough work, and it’s already a miracle if you can even find time for romance.
Ryan flashed her a gentle smile, then turned and walked away.
Thalia glanced at Darion, who was still out cold. Her eyes grew a bit more indifferent, then she just kept playing her little game.
Knock, knock!
Soon enough, there was a knock at the door.
Thalia glanced up and saw Bonnie walk in, holding a fruit basket.
“Ms. Coleman,” Bonnie greeted.
Thalia said, “Just come. You really didn’t need to bring fruit.”
Bonnie gave a shy smile and said, “It’s just polite not to show up empty-handed. When visiting someone who’s sick, you should bring something. It helps them recover quicker.”
Her eyes drifted to Darion lying in the hospital bed. For a moment, her gaze sparkled with awe, but she quickly masked it.
“Ms. Coleman, would you mind stepping outside to talk?” Bonnie asked.
Thalia shook her head. “Let’s just talk here.”
Bonnie hesitated. “Won’t that disturb his rest?”
“No,” Thalia replied, shaking her head. “He’s unconscious right now. If our chatting actually wakes him up, that would mean he’s finally out of the woods.”
Bonnie blinked, then gave an awkward smile.
Thalia pulled her over to the couch and asked, “So, what really happened that day? I got held up with something, so I couldn’t make it over.”
Bonnie’s brows furrowed, and her eyes showed clear fear.
“I was job hunting, sending out resumes everywhere, but most places rejected me because I haven’t graduated yet. Then one company suddenly invited me for an interview.

“I was really happy and went over immediately. But the interview location turned out to be an unfinished building. As soon as I walked in, the door was locked behind me,” Bonnie explained.
Even now, remembering it makes me nervous, and I can’t help clenching my fists. “Couldn’t find a way out, and I was terrified someone dangerous might show up. So I called you all for help.”
Thalia frowned, her thoughts uneasy. ‘So they just locked you in, and nobody else came by after that?’
“Yeah,” Bonnie nodded. “It really puzzled me afterward. Was it just some prank? But why would anyone want to target me?”
Thalia drifted into thought.
‘So the whole thing was aimed at me, she thought.
Dax had just walked out, and right after, she was surrounded.
Her
gaze fell on Darion, still unconscious in the hospital bed. If he hadn’t shown up out of nowhere, she probably wouldn’t be here now.
