Chapter 425
Thalia was half-asleep when she felt someone nudging her.
Groggy, she blinked her eyes open and saw a figure standing by the bed. The bedside lamp cast a dim glow, making the man’s outline fuzzy, but she could still recognize Darion.
She frowned, her voice muffled with annoyance. “What are you doing?”
She reached for her phone and checked the time. It was three in the morning.
‘Has he lost his mind?’ Thalia thought.
‘Is he seriously just standing here in the middle of the night trying to freak me out?’ Thalia grumbled to herself.
“My wound’s hurting,” Darion said in a low voice.
He sat right on the edge of her bed and said, “Put some medicine on it for me.”
Thalia sat up, brushing her hair out of her face. “Didn’t you say you didn’t need it?”
“I do now,” Darion replied.
He handed her the first aid kit and then took off his shirt.
That was when Thalia noticed he was wearing a tank top.
He pulled off the black tank top, and she saw the white bandages smeared with blood. He smelled like blood, sharp and raw.
Thalia stared for a moment, then said, “Are you seriously up in the middle of the night tearing your own wound open?”
Darion looked at her, his eyes deep and mysterious, but he didn’t say a word.
Thalia pressed her lips together, moved closer, and carefully removed the blood-soaked bandages from his body.
The shallow cuts had already scabbed over and were healing nicely.
But some of the deeper wounds were still oozing blood, and the air was tinged with the faint smell of it.
Thalia wiped away the blood, disinfected the wounds, and carefully put on ointment.
Thalia stayed completely silent throughout.
Once she finished wrapping fresh bandages around him and making sure they were secure, she slipped out of bed and headed for the bathroom.
But in the next moment, he suddenly hugged her tight.
Thalia stiffened. “Let go.”

Darion tightened his arms around her, burying his face in the curve of her neck. His breath was warm against her skin, his voice low and muffled. “No.”
Thalia pressed her finger firmly against his deepest wound. “If you don’t let go, you’ll have to get this stitched up again.”
“You’re so damn ruthless,” Darion grumbled under his breath.
He eased up his hold a little.

Thalia’s heart, which had been pounding, finally eased a bit. Only for Darion to suddenly grab the back of her head and pull her in for a kiss.
Her breath went wild, and without hesitation, she pressed down hard on his wound with her finger.
But he didn’t even flinch.
He kissed her, tracing the soft curve of her lips, drinking in her sweetness with a desperate hunger, as if he was willing to endure any pain just to taste her. Even as agony from his wound tore through him, he still wouldn’t let go.
His hot breath claimed her mouth, entwining with her tongue, as he kissed her slowly and thoroughly.
His breath drifted down, sweeping over her neck, her collarbone…
Thalia’s breathing became erratic. His dominant presence left her weak and trembling, forcing tears from her eyes.
