Chapter 438

Thalia’s face went pale with shock as she shot up from her seat. “Why is she spitting up blood? Did she eat something bad?”
Edith, equally anxious, replied, “No, Diana said she wasn’t hungry after she got back yesterday. She just had a bowl of soup and went to rest…”
Thalia felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. She steadied herself against the bed, closed her eyes for a moment, and said, “Call an ambulance. I’m on my way.”
“Okay, okay…” Edith stammered.
As soon as the call ended, Thalia rushed to change her clothes.
Wendy, still half-asleep, looked at her and asked, “Thalia, what’s going on?”
Thalia quickly tied her hair back and said, “Diana’s in trouble. I have to get to the hospital.”
“What?” Wendy exclaimed.
She shot up from the bed and said, “I’m coming with you!”
The two rushed out of the bedroom, just as Darion was coming in through the door, carrying a big bag.
“What’s going on?” Darion asked.
He glanced at them, and then his gaze landed on Thalia.
Thalia said, “Diana’s in trouble!”
Her voice was trembling.
Darion set the bag aside and said, “I’ll take you.”
He pulled out his phone and called for his bodyguard, then took the lead downstairs. By the time they reached the front door, the car was already parked and waiting.
Wendy kept holding Thalia’s hand, trying to reassure her. “Don’t worry. Maybe Diana just got food poisoning or ate something that didn’t agree with her. It might not be anything serious…”
Thalia’s lips pressed into a thin line, her heart sinking as anxiety washed over her.
They arrived at the hospital in no time. Edith greeted them and said, “Diana’s already been sent for tests.”
Thalia forced herself to stay calm and asked, “Was there anything unusual about Diana when she came back yesterday?”
Edith thought for a moment and replied, “Other than seeming a little absent-minded, there was nothing unusual.”
Thalia called Dax, her voice tense as soon as he answered. “Were you with Diana the entire time yesterday?”

Dax said, “I just ducked out to the bathroom for a couple minutes, but I came right back. Everything seemed normal, nothing out of the ordinary at all.”
When they got to the hospital room, Shyla looked genuinely surprised but also delighted. She couldn’t stop rambling to Diana, chatting about all sorts of things.
Diana wasn’t exactly enthusiastic in her replies, but she listened carefully to everything Shyla said.
Dax told Thalia everything that happened after they got to the hospital.

He paused, then continued, “But around lunchtime, Diana wanted to leave, and Shyla just wouldn’t let her. She put on the waterworks and played the victim, crying and begging until Diana’s heart softened and she agreed to stay for lunch.”
Thalia gripped her phone tightly, an unsettling idea suddenly popping into her head.
Dax asked nervously, “Ms. Coleman, did something happen?”
